Absolutely! In fact that is the best time to get pregnant. I always tell women that are trying to get pregnant that the two days before they are ovulating are the very best days to insure conception. That gives the sperm time to travel up the uterus and through the fallopian tubes where they can meet up with the fertile egg. The egg is only fertile for about 24 hours so it is important that the sperm be there when it is available. I feel that having intercourse a day or two before ovulation offers the very best odds of getting pregnant. Also, at the time of ovulation the cervix is producing a fluid that will help the sperm travel and keep them alive the optimum amount of time (3-5 days). Without this cervical fluid sperm will not live very long in the acidic environment of the vagina, (half an hour to four hours). You can see why it is so important to be able to find out when you ovulate.
Good luck and I wish you luck in getting pregnant!
Blessings

Everyone's cycle is different. There is a myth that woman ovulate 14 days after their period begins...but that is only an AVERAGE and each month can be different. The other thing is that sperm can live inside you for up to 5 days.... The only way to know is to know exactly when you ovulate. There are several ways to know and some are more effective than others. Some can only predict before ovulation happens and some can only predict that is has already happened. The absolute best info I can give you is to go read a book called Taking Charge of your fertility by Toni Weschler. It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. My husband and I tried for 1 year and had no luck..… We tried ovulation predictors , laying with pillows under me for 20 min. everything……the first month that I began using the book I realized that my timing was WRONG!. We got pregnant that very first month and I am now due Feb 2, 2007. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths! Even if you don't get into charting and everything....it will help you in so many ways!

The theory says that sperm can survive 3 to 5 days in the nice warm moist womb environment waiting for a chance to pounce. The recommended behaviour to AVOID pregnancy is no sperm for at least 5 or 6 days before your fertile day. The other problem is in determining the exact day of fertility, especially several days beforehand.
Of course, it depends too what sort of personal cleaning you engage in. Serious internal cleansing is probably a deterrent to getting pregnant.
The current thought is that the egg doesn't wait around long if it doesn't meet any sperm. So, a few days after is a waste of time.
Except, current research also shows that the body can on occasion be surprisingly unpredictable. Ovulation can happen anytime -not very often, but it does happen. (Search these and other chat sites for women who swear they got pregnant well outside the suggested "fertile time").
So the recommended procedure for getting pregnant is to go at it early and often and see what happens. The definition of "difficulty conceiving" is if you have regular, frequent intercourse for a year and don't get pregnant.

Do what I did when I was trying to get pregnant, have sex all the time. Just because you are "supposed" to ovulate on a certain day does not mean that you are or will. So, we just went for it and had sex at least once a day, which was fun and it worked! Either way, it will make you and your partner feel that "honeymoon" feeling and bring you closer together. Allot of times when people are trying, it begins to feel like a chore, which puts more pressure on you both and takes all of the fun out of it. Also, stress can actually prevent it from happening. Good Luck and just start rocking both your worlds with spontaneous, fun sex. Even if this does not work right away, you both will benefit!

Yes you can.
I wrote a paper in my evolution course (college) about the evolutionary function of a female orgasm. Durring this research I learned that a women has a part in "sperm competition".
TIP: A women is more likely to get pregnant if sperm is in her vagina when she reaches orgasm. Why? Because when a woman orgasms...her vulva contracts thus, her cervix dips down and upsucks the sperm.
Sperm competition: If a woman has sex with say, two men at different times, a woman is more likely to get pregnant from the man that arouses her most, i.e., the man who makes her orgasm due to her cervix upsucking the sperm.

Well yes, just because your most fertile on that day, doesn't mean you're not fertile the rest of the month! So yes! Take care, and good luck!

Yes, the sperm isn't as active but still alive. I think they can last like 4 or 5 days. I think it all depends on the "donor".

well... yes
sperm can stay in your body, living for like 5 days.
In fact, you quite possibly timed that one perfectly to get that way.
Don't believe people when they talk of the infertile days, are there really any of those? I don't think so..lol 5 days is a long propagation period you know...
I hope this answer is what you needed, because its accurate
