Hmmm, where to start. I am definitely PRO-MILK, but I will try to differentiate between my opinions and facts as I go on, and will try to site scientific explanation (especially if/when debunking popular myths).
Opinion #1: Anything in excess can be bad - try not to go to extremes.
Fact: There is not always a certain amount of 'pus' in milk. I can only imagine that the 'pus' mentioned by another answerer is a mis-understanding of 'somatic cell count'. There is always a certain level of "somatic cells" (cells that were part of the body/udder) in milk. Now, before anyone freaks out, please remember that if you eat eggs/meat/etc. these are entirely 'cells from the body'. If a cow gets an infection in her udder, there will be more somatic cells due to her body fighting the infection - this is referred to as a high SCC, or Somatic Cell Count. It is part of a milker's job (person who milks the cows - not the machine) to identify cows with these infections and separate them out to be milked apart from the main herd; this milk is not sold for human consumption. However, even if some cows are sick and don't get separated out, all milk sold in stores is pastuerized, so there are no organisms in it that will make consumers and milk drinkers sick.
Fact: Drinking milk helps you get lots of nutrients that you need on a daily basis, some of which you utilize MUCH better when consumed in dairy products than if you were to just take a multi-vitamin or a dietary supplement.
PLEASE, visit this website:

It has LOADS of information on how milk is good for you.
Fact: Regarding hormones in milk, the following is quoted from the article cited below: "Hormones are present naturally in all milk. While some dairy farmers use a supplemental hormone for their cows, the safety of this use has been affirmed and reaffirmed by leading national and international health and agricultural organizations over the past 15 years. Carton to carton, bottle to bottle, there is no significant difference in the level of hormones in any milk." Farmers give a few different hormones to cows for different reasons, but there is chemically NO difference in the milk from these cows versus the milk from a cow that has never had a hormone shot in her life - and people have been drinking milk just like it for hundreds of years.

Fact: Average milk fat across milking breeds in the US is closer to 3.5% than 4%, but "whole milk" is standardized to contain 3.25% on store shelves. If you're worried about the fat in milk, though, there are always the 2%, 1% and skim milk options.
I have done my best to answer your question with some fact and references that seem relevant. If you're wondering, I do work in the dairy industry. Please, feel free to e-mail me if you have further questions. Just be warned - I love chatting about cows!
Have a great day!

ordinary, Soy is a huge nutrients, Soy milk is one thank you to get carry of it and replace Cow Milk. Cow milk is for calfs, could you drink rat milk? Cow milk is formulated to make a calf advance as a cow. i'm particular you do no longer want that. there are various milk substitutes. no longer in basic terms soy. you will desire to examine the nutrients guidance on a Cow milk carton and evaluate it to the Milk substitutes the place you purchase groceries. seem for a replace that includes Calcium (25 o 33%) and nutrition D. you will rather observe the variation once you do the swap. i'm being somewhat a hipocrite for the reason that I nonetheless use cow milk in my eating ordinary, I purely have the prefer to make a factor. in spite of the indisputable fact that I even have decreased its use and that i've got actually seen a marked progression in my sinus/hypersensitive reaction issues.

I personally don't drink cow's milk. In actuality, humans are the only species to drink the milk of another animal. Also, and this is just my animal activist side coming out, I don't believe in the factory farming methods many farms use to get milk from cows. Studies have shown that cow's milk isn't as great for human health as was once thought, and I personally was shocked to learn that the USDA has established a certain level of pus in all cow's milk, which really made milk unappealing to me.
Hope this helped!

In India we used to drink Cow's milk till my final year. So tasty. That has its own taste. Even without sugar it tastes good. May be its natural or something. its a old story.
After moving to Canada drinking 2%,1%,Cream milk(10%, 18% so on) just go with the flow. But i miss that taste.
Its different but its life accept and adopt it.
May be scientifically its good for us right now.

Milk is good for you. If you are worried about calories, drink skimmed milk with no fat. This also redudes the cholesterol but keeps the calcium.
2%fat milk is 1/2 the normal fat. Normal fat in milk is 4%.The rest of the milk is in the container.
There is some question on whether the growth hormone found in milk is good. Our people certainly are bigger than long ago. But they have better diets.

I drink it. It's a nice source of calcium if you're not lactose intolerent. I'd rather get my calcium from milk (pus and all) than from spinich (dead bugs and all). On the other hand, whole milk has more fat than you probably need so stick to the 1% if you're drinking glasses of it.
It's true that humans are the only animal that drinks another's milk, and that the milk is "for" nourishing calves, not us, but with that arguement, we can add that we're the only creature that makes soy milk, and that the soy beans are "for" nourishing soy seedlings, not us.

I heard that goat's milk is more digestible for humans, and I find that credible simply because goats have been domesticated for many thousands more years than cows for dairy purposes. Humans are more co-evolved with goats than with cows.

I do not drink cow's milk. Cow milk, just like human milk, is meant for the cow's baby. Humans are the only animals who drink the milk of another mammal. It is not good for us at all.
