Is he really ASD or just a man? I am beginning to think most men are on the autistic spectrum.

I have an ASD nephew and an ASD friend (who was a lover) and a lover who is definitely showing signs.

I am happy to talk if you want to e me.

I have had a boyfriend with this who is now happily wth a healthy happy young child. However, having been a nurse for a number of years I can assure you that there is no such thing as normal. Some people are a little more robotic than others, some people are more labile than others, some people find it harder than others to understand other people. True autism is a major problem but when we talk about ASD I think that most people would find that there are some areas of their lives in which they are startlingly different to other people. You have to be aware that Aspergers is a relatively new diagnosis which is a catchall for a number of traits and covers a wide spectrum of altered abilities.

Only a few years ago many of these people were considered a bit odd but had normal schooling and went to work, got married and had children and people just thought they were a bit different.

90% of my patients are found to have a Personality Disorder or ASD eg Aspergers Syndrome and a few have a mental illness. These guys are a cross section of society although they all share having been caught doing something anti-social - from drink driving to murder. However, I find that they reflect the people that I met when I worked in a normal hospital and in a Hospice.

What am I trying to say? Your husband presumably leads a relatively normal life? This should encourage you in the care of your son. Get all the help that you can with your son and I am sure that you will meet people who are in the same situation as yourself Unless it is causing you extreme difficulty leave well alone with your husband - though counselling may help both of you to cope better and to support your son.

Best wishes with getting the appropriate help for your son, my friend has had a long fight to get help for her (autistic) son but in the end she got it, and her son is a different boy altogether now in a very short space of time.

ASD is a complex and variable developmental disability, which occurs as the result of disordered brain development and function, altering the childs quality of development in the areas of communication, social interaction and imagination skills.

No, tho I'm sure many feel they do have a mate with this, just before they head for the divorce court.....

DO you? Why? Do you suffer from this ailment? If not, what in the world attracted you to someone with ASD? It's not like you could not tell right?
