if i want to model, where do i start?

Get a portfolio done.

Don't start by signing yourself up to a modelling agency.
I can tell you they'll turn you flat down.

Go to a talent agency instead. They'll get you small gigs. And after that, THEN you go to a modelling agency.

Take 5 the regular snapshots that you already have (that only have YOU in them).
To Talent agencies that are the smallest listed in the Yellow Pages of your town.
Write your name on the back at the top.
Then list your
age
Height
Weight
Inseam (Have a friend Measure from your croutch to ankle bone)
Pants size
Waste measurement
Chest
Arm
Shoe size
When You get to the agency put your contact info at the bottom
You can mail in pic, but it's best to plan to go to at least 3-5 agencies.
No money needed for the bigger, better agencies.

Never get discouraged. Cause you never know what that particular agency is in the market for that day. Maybe a tall Jamaican lady or an 70 year old midget who is a good dancer. Just keep trying and Don't spend any more that for toss away Cameras.

There's a company called model search america (or something along those lines), they do auditions and will take pictures to help set up a portfolio. There's several companies that do it. But most require you to go to Vegas and places like that, but they give you a hotel room where they're at and some other added bonuses. Sometimes at malls there are people passing out cards for auditions. Just search it on Yahoo and make sure you have questions and atleast one picture you can email. And be ready to write a bunch of stuff down when they call you. Good Luck ( :
