Well first off… Calm down, you don’t have to make up your mind yet. You’re not even in High school yet. I admire the fact that you feel strong enough about it now to even start worrying about. Is shows that you have drive, and a sense of purpose. Qualities that will serve you well in your future endeavors.
Now to try and figure out an answer to your question. It really doesn’t have to be any specific thing. You are actually able to change career paths as many times in your life as you wish. You’re correct in thinking that the decisions that you make now can affect you later in life. The biggest one that you can make now is to do as best as you can in school. Learn as much as you can about everything that you can. Knowledge is indeed power. If you really feel that you need to start thinking about a career now, then base your decision on what you enjoy doing, but consider that you will need to be able to continue doing it even as you get older. So being a rock star, where it can be very glamorous, might prove difficult when your 50, unless of course your Mick Jaeger. Try now to think in general terms, like Literature, Computers, History, Teaching, Art, and gear your high school classes in that general direction. Seek advice from guidance consolers, Teachers, and other Adults that you look up to. Look into work study programs that will not only allow you to gain valuable work experience, but will allow you to decide if that career path is right for you. Above all else, don’t allow all this to interfere with growing up. My father told me once, “Don’t let your studies interfere with your education”. Some of the most important things you can learn in life are taught to you by living your life. So relax and get good grades. I think you’re already on the right track

At age 12 you are NO WHERE NEAR out of time to make this decision. usually young people make this decision in their late teens...in high school. Any decision you make now would likely change in time. Take classes in school that help you learn about many different careers. READ everything you can get your hands on, talk to adults in different lines of work. You sound like a very bright person, and i am sure in the next 6 years you will find an area that interests you . Many students are not even sure the first year they go to college. That is one reason the courses in the first year are general courses that everyone needs. With your energy, intelligence and desire to succeed...I believe you will succeed.

Hardly modest are ya? Anyway, calming down a second will help. Is this for one of those reports teachers make you do in a futile attempt to make course selection easier? Be honest now.
Just look at your hobbies. What do you like doing? Find a career that fits in what you like to do and investigate. Every career requires dedication, so don't let yourself be put off if something requires several years of training or experience. There's ways to prepare for just about every field, you just have to stay focused.
All that said, take your time. Life isn't ending tomorrow and if it was, a job is the last thing to worry about. Enjoy being your age, you still have plenty of time.

In America, you can change majors 5 times in college, and end up in a COMPLETELY different career! I know! I've done it!
I entered college as a chem major, graduated in computer science, and am working as a divorce attorney.
And when I was 13, I wanted to be PATTON.
Give it time. Enjoy your youth.
Do clubs at school, volunteer activities, and other things that you are interested in. The great thing about being 13 is that you DO have TIME to explore.

Enjoy your childhood, that is if you are really 12. Most people don't figure out what they want to do in life until they are in college and then they end-up doing something totally different than their major.
Go out and have fun and stay away from drugs and alcohol.

so, what you mean by urgent is that you have plenty of time to figure it out. At least 5 more years, once you go to college you should have a better idea, but at 13 i think that should be the least of your worries. right now you should have priorities to the effect of "do you really think he likes me?"
go with the flow,
whatever happens, happens.

I really don't understand people your age. When I was your age, I was too worried about what my crush said to my other friends or who's going to my sleep over pajama parties, not what career I wanted? What's going on with the new generation? Are they "that" advanced? What will you be doing once you figure out what you want to do?

How can time be running out when you're 12??!! You've got lots of time to figure out what you want to do so be patient and something will come along!
...Really, I'm serious, why the hurry? I'm 22, and I just recently figured out what I wanted to do with my life.

There are on-line surveys you can take. Its alot of questions.Just remember do what you want to do. You have plenty of time to change careers. You can always do research and ask people in the Field you like questions. I can only hope my daughter thinks about that at 12. Stay focused but don't forget you have time still enjoy your youth.

In highschool you can take a test to see what career you want to go into. Those don't work. Just begin college after high school and as you take pre req's you'll discover what passion drives you
