Yesterday I played a game of chess with my friend. He has been playing chess all of his life and have won many trophies on behalf of his accomplishments. He challenged me to a game of chess and I accepted even though I haven't played a single game of chess in my life. After 1 hour through the game I actually beat him. I didn't even know what I was doing. I was just moving pieces anywhere.

I used to play chess in a club. Among the members I was about average. A chess club is a higher level of competition than chess you might play with your friends. However, it doesn't matter how good you are. Clubs will pair you with players of similiar strength as yourself. You will move up the ladder as you get better. As far as not getting laid, that's nonsense. About ten years ago an attractive lady asked me out on a date. She offered to come pick me up for dinner and bowling. Well she arrived early. I left the door open, and I had just gotten out of the shower. Knowing that there was a small chance that she might have already have came, I put the towel around my waist before heading to the bedroom to get dressed. I walked out of the bathroom, and there she was. Sitting in the floor with my chess set. " I always wanted to learn how to play chess", she said. I told her that I would get dressed and come back and teach her. "You don't have to get dressed, just sit down here", was her response. I have to admit I was kind of nervous. There I was wearing nothing but a towel, and she was fully clothed ( wearing jeans and a T-shirt ). Then working up even more nerve she said, " Take off the towel too, I would like you better that way". So I did it. I sat there for about 15 minutes "teaching" her how to play chess. Her eyes kept wondering off the board, looking at something else. We didn't make it to dinner or the bowling alley that night. The point is.....chess players get laid.

I think you could join a chess club, once you got to know the rules better. I also think that you were just lucky, or maybe he got bored or tired after an hour. If you play more often, I think you should be able to join a chess club.

My advice to you is to actually learn how to play chess. Join a chess club for begginers. Chess is a complex game, there are no shortcuts my friend- you just got lucky. Would you really want to be a chess champion and still not know how you were able to win? I'd like to think not. Chess is a great game, you should really look into it.

Good luck!

BTW Ledos or whatever his name is has isssues.
Chess doesn't make you a loser, judging other people does though... Ledos shouldn't let his insecurities rule him like that.

Maybe you got lucky and caught him on one of his bad days. One game won't let you know. I once won 196 games straight never defeated, but today some 40 plus years later I am still a good club player not the grandmaster I dreamed of. Play some more and yes joining a club no matter what class you fall into will help your game. Enjoy Chess its fun.

haha, wow...harsh first answer...anyways...

who cares if your qualified or not? if you want to play, go for it. you could actually learn the game and maybe win a few off more than just luck. the point of joining anything is to do somethin u wanna do, get better at it, maybe make a few friends...its not abt what others think, its about what you want to do. dont ask other ppl, ask yurself if you want to join. if yes, then do it...no one's stopping you...especially the first kid who wishes he could get some but cant hold it up to save his life ;)

one good burn deserves another :D
