Why do people (especially parents) think that when teenagers wear thongs that means they are sexually active or are trying to look like whores? I mean that usually isn't the case. Panty lines are gross and thongs prevent them. Also I just bought one for the first time a few days ago and I am not a whore.

i don't think that's the issue.
it's when you go to the store and see thongs for 6 year olds. that is the problem. a 6 year old doesn't need a thong.
as for teens. i think the problem there is when the thong sticks out the top of the pants and is showing the world your g-string.
that is disgusting and very tasteless.

i would love to see girls get back to projecting a cetain amount of class. thongs are fine if your pants show panty lines. no problem. just don't let it hang out so everyone knows that you're wearing red panties today.

take care.

Parents think that because thongs are panties that boys would look at. So they would be really looking a you butt and then they would ask you out. So you would and then you don't have s**. what if you had a birthday party and your boyfriend bought you a thong in different colors how would your parents feel? MAD!!!! (IM NOT TALKING ABOUT YOU BUT OTHER GIRLS) parents say you look lke a whore because when girls wear those thongs all the boys start to ask the girls out then they have s*** and then they get pregnant and when the parents find out they would be so dissapointed.

Normally a girl wears a thong to look or feel sexy. Obviously parents are going to assume you are sexually active or are at least wanting to be. Most girls grow out of the thong phase, however, once their sexual awareness is discovered. Thongs do not "prevent" panty lines. It depends on the type of pants you are wearing.

Well not all people think that i guess parents are more conservative and they think that thongs arent a good thing. but researchers do show that thongs can give u infections since there is bacteria and its going up ur butt crack. if appearence is that important and peopel dont like to show their panty lines then its normal to wear thongs but different people have different views. me for one dont think that thongs make people look like whores, or something and im sure u arent one either so wear ur thong with confidence. but u must know about the ugly side to wearing thongs!

never let anyone let you think that you are a whore
just cus you wear a thong dosnt mean that you're sexually active
and yes panty lines are pretty nasty
to me thongs feel better than regular panties
i also wear thongs and im 14
but there isnt a big deal with that
cus more than half of the girls in my school wear thongs
at my school girls bought each other thongs for christmas
but i do agree that 6 year old girls should not be wearing thongs

There's the joke "What are hookers supposed to wear, now that the 12-year-olds are dressing like that?".

If you're trying to project the appearance "I'm sexy!", what do you believe others will think about you? The thong that shows above the waistband (and the matching low-waist pants) are designed to display an image.

If your underwear doesn't show who cares or knows what you're wearing or not wearing? If it does show - why did you wear that? Why do girls dress to show off their midriff and down below their waist?

I think it's a matter of taste and style. For a school full kids your own age, they know darn well that it doesn't mean anything like "Help yourself". For people your parents' age, it does mean something else - 20 years ago, only hookers dressed like that. Thongs were only found in naughty lingere stores. They don't want their daughter to dress like a hooker. They don't sit there watching MTV or whatever to get up to date on the latest fashion trends.

I do have to wonder why it's necessary for girls to get all dolled up like they were adults, if they are only 10 or 12. Fortunately, I have no kids (yet) and don't have to have these arguments.

I agree with Joey322! However, my very young little sister is in competitive dance and for competition the judges want absolutey NO PANTY LINES so it's either that or no undies. II would think situations like that are why they have thongs for little girls. I would prefer for my kids or little sister to wear a thong rather than nothing!

Parents are just retards and dont understand why their teen needs 50 thongs rather than 5 pairs of granny panties (gross!) haha tell your mom if you were a whore, you'd be wearing a see thru lacey thong... (but that still doesn't make you a whore or I'd be one! haha)

then dont make it seem your like a whore. people usually first judge you on your apperance. so even if you wear your thongs, dont wear it in a sl.utty fashion. Like wear them and make sure that you have jeans that cover it,or a shirt thats long enough so that people wont really notice that there is a thong on. ..and parents..they will never understand them no matter what

The parents are probably just associating the thongs with their kids growing up and are having a hard time dealing with that. Just tell them the reason why you bought it and it should be fine...
