First grade through fifth grade is considered elementary in many schools. Ages are 6-10.

Sixth and seventh grades are considered middle school Some still say Junior High. Ages are 11 & 12 or 12 & 13.

Eighth grade through twelvth grade is considered High School or better known as freshmen, sopohomore, junior, senior. Ages are 13-17 or 14-18.

Kindergarten is for five-year-olds. This is an early childhood cirriculum in preparation for elementary school.

The age ranges quoted above are noted due to birthdates and also because some students must repeat grades due to course failure.

There are 13 grades in American schools, Kindergarten and 1st - 12th grade. Children usually start Kindergarten at 5 or 6 years old.

Kindergarten is the grade right before first grade. Many schools use this transition grade to get children acclimated to going to school. For some schools this grade does not take the same number of hours as the rest of the grades. In Las Vegas, for example, some schools are still on the 3 hour schedule and some have gone to the normal 6 hour schedule.

Most kids start kindergarten at age 5 in the fall. Just keep adding a grade and a year of age and that will give you the age and grade . Ex. 5-K, 6-1st, 7-2nd

Kindergarten is where u learn how to act in a place with other kids and listen to teachers. i also learned addition tables. In 1st grade u have to b at least 6 years old. It's different everywhere though, and if ur smart enough u can skip grades. Say ur smart. ur supposed to b in1st grade, but they move u 2 2nd. then u will always b younger then the other kids. from 1st grade americans spend about 14 years in skool until they finish collage. but then most people go 2 another 4 year skool. everything really depends on u.

You have to be 6 or 5 and there are some schools that are grades 1-12. Elementary schools are k-5 or some are k-6. Middle schools are 7-8 and 6-8. And highschools are 9-12 and then you start college.

In American schools, there are 12 grades.
Kindergarten through 5th is usually under the category of being elementary school
6th through 8th is usually under the category of middle school
9th through 12th is High school
Some states have different grade levels for their schools but this is usually how it works. As for what age you have to be, different states have different "cut off dates" to how old you have to be. That means that if you were born within the given dates and you have had the proper schooling or have the right amount of credits, you will be accepted into the next grade level.

In High School, 9th grade is called freshman year, 10th grade is called sophomore year, 11th grade is called junior year and the last year of high school is senior year. After senior year, there are typically four years of college and they are freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior years.
