Dr. Robyn Smith said that the problem in most relationships is that we're in one of two modes: We're either talking, or waiting to talk. No, you can't truly listen to someone if you are either talking or thinking of what to say next.

You have to openly listen to one another in a relationship and not just think about what to say next in an argument.

People have the capability of talking and hearing at the same time, yet they don't have the capability for talking and listening at the same time.
To listen means to understand, to hear the meaning behind the words the other person is saying. That would be quick difficult for a person to accomplish when they are busy talking.

Yes, people can talk and listen at the same time, people do it all the time. In order to get the most out of what someone is saying though it would be better if you wern't talking and just listening.

Sometimes when i talk and listen i think it works out, but when i really dont care about what the person is talking about i really woulnt listen and i would just talk without listening. i think if the person really wants to listen adn talk at the same time i think it is possible, the question is if u want to listen adn talk at the same time.

Yes.

I believe its akin to something like multi-tasking.

Although, scientifically, your listening awareness will go down when you're talking. But it is still possible to do both at the same time.

Yes but you have to work at it. I never used to but then I got a job working with kids in a mental institution and I needed to be aware of my surroundings at all times. It's hard sometimes though.
