Handle her during the day, as they usually chew on the bars due to boredom from being in a cage all day long.

Feed your hamster right before bedtime.

If nothing else works, you can do what I do with my rat at nighttime. His cage goes into the bathroom tub, overnight.

Why do you ask this? When you did all your research before you bought it, did you miss the bit which told you that they HAVE to gnaw? If the cage is too small and it has nothing else to gnaw on, then yes they will gnaw on the bars. Buy a decent sized cage and provide safe wooden toys to chew on. However if it has developed the habit it may carry on. Learn to live with it or find it a new home with someone happy to accept normal hamster behaviour.

Hamsters have teeth that grow all the time. The only way they can stop it is to gnaw on things. You can use things from the pet store or from around the house. Talk to you vet or pet store clerk. Also you want to socialize your hamster so he or she is happy in and out of the cage.
Good luck!

Firstly, make sure her cage is big enough, hamsters need 24"x12" of floor space, secondly make sure she has plenty of things to keep her occupied. Loo roll tubes, small cardboard boxes, and terracotta flower pots will all be used as toys. Bonios and similar dog biscuits will also be appreciated, as would commercial chews..

Saying that though some times you can't stop them from chewing. I have a hamster in a 28 gal tank, and she still insists on chewing the cage, even though she has plenty of space, toys and interaction..

Other than do what others have suggested - i.e. giving her other toys to play with, or buying other chews there is not much you can do. Hamsters do chew at their cages, and other things in which is not good for humans when they are nocturnal. You would do better to move her to another room, so that you can't hear her.

my hamster does the comparable element ... its simply by boredom truly, get her out of her cage greater, placed her in an exercising ball and enable her run around some rooms of the homestead (for sort of 30-40 5 an afternoon/the different day) she'll maximum possibly sleep greater if she has greater exercising, so she wont be chewing the bars as lots. do no longer provide her to many toys in her cage, she'll in simple terms grow to be uninterested in them. provide her one, then after a week take it out and alter it for yet another toy. save doing the comparable element and it is going to maintain her occupied. desire this enables.

they just do that and they're kinda nocturnal too so maybe you should put it in another room.
hamsters need to gnaw on things to keep their teeth down so make sure it has something to chew. you can buy wooden blocks specifically for this but they get through them in minutes. i found that wooden spoons lasted a lot longer. she will probably still gnaw the cage as well though.

Your hamster is bored, bored, bored! I had a hamster in the same situation and started giving him large crackers or carrots, anything that will take him a long time to gnaw, also lots of toys are usefull. He needs stimulation. hope this helps. mariska

my hamster used to alot. she changes her mind and has a good chewing sesion every so often. I have been told that some hamsters are born to chew and awlays will. You could try putting things in to chew but they might just like to chew the bars and theres not alot you can do.
