Ive set up the router, finally both laptops are showing connected to wireless router, i have excellent connectivity-however I am still unable to connect to the internet. Of course when I connect the dsl cable to the laptop alone the internet comes on, so service is good. What am I doing wrong? I have retraced my steps many times and even set my wireless tcp/ip settings manually because I was getting an "aquiring ip address" message. Help. :(

Ok i had the same exact problem. Except my router isnt the same brand as yours but maybe it will still help! This Process is called MAC Cloning, First you need to the MAC Address of your Wireless Device. To do so, goto Start > Run and type: cmd . When Command Prompt Opens, type the following; ipconfig /all then a list will appear. The address you are looking for is under Physical Address, i belive it to be 10 characters long, should compose of numbers and letters. After you recieve this String of characters write them down and keep handy for the next steps. Im not sure of the model of router you have, but here are the next steps that should get you up and running.

It may be down to your DNS settings, you can be connect but not be able to resolve the names (like www.yahoo.com) to its IP address without the correct DNS settings.

Try going to the command prompt on you laptop (start run CMD) then type ipconfig /all and see what value is in your DNS Server section.. if these are blank - thats your problem. I'd recommend leaving your laptops as automatically getting their settings from your router, and ensure the DHCP (or automatic address assignment) section of your router setup includes the default gateway setting and the DNS server settings from your Internet ISP.

For testing sixty 4 bit WEP is positive, as quickly as you het a connection i might set it to 128 bit WEP, or WPA. To set a wep key your suited methodis to log into the router (that's no longer a linksys internet site) and enter the encryption key manually as 10 hexadecimal characters (numbers 0 to 9 and letters A to F) Then observe it down and enter this precisely once you have sought on your SSID and seen it. enter the variety of encryption if it may provide this selection, then enter the key. some prompt playing cards anticipate you to go into those keys in pairs of characters. with the objective to go into A4F53E you are able to desire to could desire to apply A$ F5 3E attempt as an entire code first. If this works i might heavily propose putting it bigger.

one thing i did wrong at first, was i didn't install the software on all the pc's..... mine woudn't work till i did.... just double check,, you have the phone line hooked to your modem, then the modem to the router, rite? you'll have to install the sofware for the modem to each pc, then the router to each pc,,,, then turn everything off, and unplug everything, then plug all back in, then restart everything.....

good luck, i hope that helps, and if you need anything else, send me an email.
