If it is a criminal case, you NEED a referral from the Court to a public defender. If the public defender cannot represent you, for good cause, then you are entitled to a court appointed attorney.

Depends. Criminal case - you can be appointed a lawyer. Civil case - look into volunteer lawyer programs.

you could go online search for a lawyer in your town or look up Pro bono, these attorney will help those folks who are low income

In criminal court you request that the judge appoint an attorney to represent you.

In civil court you are on your own.
