It doesn't.
9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq. Saddam. No ties whatsoever. No one knew much about Saddam before Bush started pushing for invasion and occupation.
I would be willing to bet that the Iraqis are more worried about being killed by coalition forces than they are worried about whether or not Saddam will be hanged.

This is not about Saddam, this is about the country of Iraq. Saddam terrorized a nation. He ruled by intimidation and brutally tortured and killed many innocent people. The only ones that are going to have any sadness will be those loyal few that are left of his party. Knowing that the Saddam door is finally closed for good will give people hope that there can be a new Iraq. Keeping him in jail would have always kept the threat over their heads that he may get out again and take over as he did in the 50's. Let freedom ring.

I am *kinda* for them to execute Saddam. He murdered many of his own citizens, as did the Nazis in WWII, in which they got hung afterwords. It will not improve anything. I am not sure anyone is saying that global warming will stop, taxes will fall, cats and dogs will like each other, or gas prices will drop $2 if Saddam is twitching at the bottom of a rope.
There will be an increase in violence. But at least it will end. People will not be blowing each other up in 2011 because Saddam died 5 years ago. There will be a surge in violence, and then it will taper off. If he would be in jail for life, there would be so many terrorist attacks, hijackings, and kidnappings to attempt to get him released. What is the goal for 90% of kidnappings? "Release so and so!"
He will be hung. Violence will increase. Then he will be forgotten as time goes on. I think that's for the best.

Keep him in jail?
Please. In countries like Iraq (plus a gazillion other countries like Indonesia, Cambodia, etc.) jail can be the most luxurious thing ever if you got the money. And I bet Saddam has a gazillion bucks in his Swiss bank account.
Keeping him in Jail won't prevent him from escaping you know. He's done it a gazillion times before (even if this record weren't published.) Why wouldn't he do it again?
Besides, its the decision of Iraq. People from other countries shouldn't butt in. Isn't that how the whole **** began in the first place.

there will always be violence in iraq, always...they have been fighting with each other and everyone else for generations and that will not stop...having a democracy will at least give the ppl a chance though. as for killing saddam that is the choice of the iraqi ppl and their government, they are the ones that have suffered the most under his regime and for generations....let them handle it, they deserve and will now have what they have been longing for....justice.

Had the British government in the time Lawrence of Arabia, listened to Lawrence a great deal of what's occurring in the Arab areas at present does no longer be occurring. in case you do not have faith me examine the genuine tale of Lawrence (no longer David Leven's video exhibit version) and how he had great perception into the themes of the Arab countries and how they'd have been resolved had an embarrassed British government listened to him. Bush and Blair piggy subsidized onto the concerns in Iraq and used Saddam Hussein regime as an excuse to get their palms on the oil. With the effect that hundreds upon hundreds of folk have been killed because of the fact the Iraq conflict began, in no way strategies the tens of millions that died below Saddam's regime. i do no longer prefer to play the devils recommend right here, yet I worry that civil conflict is now inevitable and tens of millions extra will die because of the fact of it. no longer in basic terms will civilians die yet many squaddies will die. trees Father would desire to have and would have complete Saddam off in the final Gulf conflict, in basic terms as the two B's would are transforming into rid of Saddam quietly without all this bloodshed. And in basic terms consistent with risk the worldwide does no longer be on the fringe of yet yet another genocide.

We, as humans, have entered into a social contract with each and now live under laws that uphold that contract. It has been deemed that crimes against humanity are punishable by death. He committed those crimes and is now being punished for them.
While capital punishment is questionable as a form of punishment in and of itself, his life is not greater than those he has taken. His execution is not suppose to make things better. Only the living can improve life on earth. It will, however, bring him to social justice. Furthermore, no one really knows what will happen to us after death. It is only our faith that leads our imagination. Only God knows.

I think it would be a very wise move if the Iraq government would wait awhile. Yes he deserves death but I don't see the hurry. I know Bush, being from Texas wants him dead yesterday. I also hope all of Saddam's virgins are obese, bucktoothed and butt ugly.

How could it possibly cause more violence. Evil deserves absolute punishment. He gave his victims no chance to live. He should have that same chance. Yes it does not bring them back to life, but, he has a life that can be taken for them.
