America does not have President, so it can not vote for one regardless of the color of his/her skin.

It is likely that you mean the United States. If that is the case, I doubt that United Statesians will vote for a black president. I wouldn't be surprised if many that would otherwise for for the party of that black candidate vote for the opposition if nothing else to ensure he does not get elected.

I find it difficult for a black person to win a presidency. A lot of people are not going to vote for a black person just because he is black. It is racism and is stupid but you are black and you know this is true. The people that gave you thumbs down don't want to even think about racism in America. They want to be PC. A black candidate would have to be a really good person with great credentials. I think maybe in 30 years this country will elect a black president but today, it is very difficult.

Yes, I do. We're getting there. Too slowly, but we are getting there. I remember 1972 (I think it was) when there had never been a black mayor of a major American City, untl Carl Stokes was elected mayor of Cleveland. Since there have been several. There has even been at least one black governor that I can think of off the top of my head (Douglas Wilder of Va.). It was within my memory (I'm not that old) that no blacks appeared in TV commercials ever. Then finally in commercials for products associated with blacks. Now, it's routine and no one even notices. We have black judges, CEOs, leaders of nonprofits, even senators from large industrial northern states (Barack Obama). Sen. Obama may be a bit unseasoned to win in 2008, but many Presidents have lost before they won. By the way, why is a man who has a black father and a white mother referred to as a "black man"?

human beings might vote for whom ever they so chosen. the subject with the present candidate is that he's black. it is not that he's a black guy, he's guy. until you attack him. Then he's black and you're a racist. it relatively is a dropping argument. Your perfect wager is to assert? Why are human beings vote casting for someone based in basic terms on the undeniable fact that he's black? I.e the guy pulling ninety% of the black vote. human beings will vote for Obama oftentimes because of the fact they agree along with his politics. you would be categorized a racsist reason you question his politics, and he's black.

Well our choices are probably going to be a black man, a white woman, and the third person who is not rep or dem and never wins. So I'm hoping people vote for a black man over any woman being in office. We're not ready for that yet!

No I don't. I think we would have a better chance of getting a woman elected than a black man. I think if a woman got into office then the chances of a black man getting to be president would go up. But either way I do believe if a black man was president (at least the first one) he would probably get assassinated. There are just to many racist people out there.

Not just that, but Obama is not black, but bi-racial. I can't recall the source, but a recent quote in the Chicago press said that "America is the only place where a white woman can have a black baby, but a black woman can't have a white one." It's worth noting.

As soon as a party finds a viable black candidate who is sufficiently middle-of-the-road, I believe it will happen within the next 3 or 4 elections. The problem is that the most vocal black candidates are the "Al Sharptons" of the world.

If all the minorities registered to vote, and in fact voted, then yes - I really think we could have a black president.

Well, I am white and I pray you are wrong. It is way past time that people were judged on who they are not what colour they are. But let me ask you this... do you think we are fooling ourselves to think that America will ever vote for a woman as president??? YES, I AM WOMAN!

obama? yes there will be votes. not enough though. hey i voted for jessie back then. very few others did though. and it would just be asking for trouble if he won. there's a lot of nasty rascists in this country, and many of them have guns.

i'd like to get beyond this whole race thing we have in this country, but it's going to be awhile. it is estimated that by 2010 or 2012 whites will no longer be a majority in this country. that will open a lot of doors.
