i tohugh they were married, now she's dead and he hates her. What happened?

The reason Joe hates Pauline................................
Pauline informed Joe that he was half the man that Arthur had been and that she had never really loved him. She continued to pour scorn on their relationship, comparing it infavourably to her marriage with Arthur, including their lacklusture sex life. She then removed her wedding ring and told him the marriage was over. Joe was quick to point out that the perfect marriage with Arthur she had constructed in her head, was nothing but a fantasy. Hurt by her harsh words, he picked up the pictures of her precious children and first husband that lay around her living room and brandished Mark "diseased", Michelle a "scrubber" and Arthur an "con", before throwing them all to the floor and smashing them. Pauline retaliated by smashing a plate over his head.Joe was knocked unconcious, with a wound to his head. He left Albert Square,only to return to find Pauline had died...................

Ever notice that none of the characters on the show ever display a happy moment. Sheesh! Is that what it's like living in London?

She went round telling everyone that she was terminally ill and it was a lie. He realised what an old witch she was. She kept calling him a stupid man too.

He doesn't. She did some terrible things but he doesn't hate her, quite the opposite in fact. Hes grieving and is so hurt he's lashing out, if he convinces himself he hates her he wont hurt so much.
That and she wore some very questionable cardigans.

because Pauline told Joe she had a brain tumour, and she hasn't got one ,she lied to him and hes furious,i think she lied because something to do with martin,

Why any-one with half a brain watches such a Depressing Program is beyond me!
All I do know is no one could ever match up to her beloved 'Arthur' and she told them so!

obviously she ytold him she was terminally ill, she also found out he was a convicted thief and told everyone, and there is always the references to her wonderful arthur! like Joe was never her husband there was only arthur!
