Whats vfd? If you mean VFW,then the answer is yes.I'm pretty sure there's quite a few vets/ex-cons out there. But if you mean fire dept. then no.Any one who is a convicted felon cannot have a job within the government or city, local or Federal, volunteer or not.But it wouldn't hurt to ask cuz if you served any time and were in a fire camp instead of a prison, they might consider it.

I'm thinking VFD stands for Volunteer Fire Department. If that's true... then this is a great question. There should be guidelines for accepting people into the volunteer ranks of the department. If the guidelines for "hiring" or "accepting applications" for volunteer positions does NOT preclude the hiring of a convicted felon, then it would make sense that he can't be denied a position based solely on his status as an felon.

Have you ever noticed that when someone`s house is burning to the ground, people don`t tend to walk up to the firefighters and ask them about their past. I have no idea what your felony was, but, if nothing else, the camaraderie and responsibility associated with a fire department is good rehab. Good luck to you.
