I want to major in german and possibly travel...What job will allow me to travel, use the language, and also maybe other languages, while still being there for a family?

You could become a university lecturer and teach German at uni level. You'll need a master, and if you're after positions outside North America, a PhD. It's not true that lecturers get 4 months off a year, tht's just how long the students aren't there. But you will work from home a lot, and hours are very flexible. Travel is built in as well, because you'll be expected to go to conferences in other countries.

You may want to consider a double major in German and business, finance or accounting. That will make you sought after for a lot of big companies.
