system recovery only works with documents not my favorites-sites.
Did you get a new program?
If you have XP and you are using Explorer 7, your favorites are behind the yellow star, just click the star to view your favorites, when you go on the Internet.
If you are using another system other then XP, try looking for unfamilar icons on your Internet page. Your pointer will tell you what it is for.
I do believe your problem will be solved.

Depending on what type of System Recovery you did, there is a good chance your favorites are gone. If you did the non destructive one that restored the computer back to the way it came, then you should have saved your favorites on a floppy first. I keep a floppy and as I add Favorites I keep copying them to the Floppy. That way I can just go to the Favorites Folder and copy them all back in if I have to format the drive.

Your favorites have likely been completely destroyed by the system recovery. Especially if it was a system restore from the manufacturers CD. Sorry.

On Internet Explorer 7 click the gold star on the left of the toolbar, or press Ctrl + i or Alt + c on your keyboard, and also if the Menu Bar with File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, and Help isn't showing, click Tools (an icon that looks like a gear) on the bottom right of the toolbar, a menu pops up, click Menu Bar, or right click a vacant space on the toolbar, a menu pops up, click Menu Bar.
If you only need the Menu Bar with File, Edit, View, Favorites, Tools, and Help to appear temporarily just press the Alt key on your keyboard. This way your toolbar doesn't take up as much of your screen. If you want it to stay permanently, right click on a vacant space on the toolbar and click Menu Bar.

It is possible that your favorites got wiped. Did you specify a date that was so far back that the system recovery wouldn't have seen your favorites?

when you do a recovery, it rolls back. so your favorites might not have existed at that last point. basically it is like a checkpoint in a video game. if you go to the checkpoint before last, there are things you have to do that you already did. unless you saved all your information onto a disk or something, your favorites are no longer there. sorry!
