I can't find out what kind of RAM I need. I pulled it out and it said "DDR400 (2.5) 256MX8". I currently have 256megs and want to upgrade to 1 GB. I got my computer from Fry's, no manufacture name. The processor is an "AMD Sempron 2800+" Need more info?

If you buy from a company that will take returns (of what does not work), then you can experiment a bit. I have bought RAM from CoastMemory many times, and had to send the wrong ones back. They were always nice on the phone.

Get TWO 512MB DDR400 modules and put one in each of two slots. After you install this pair (with the other removed) and it works, then try putting the 256 MB of RAM in the open slots (if you have 4 slots). Consider the extra 256MB of RAM as a bonus. But CoastMemory will also BUY your old RAM, so consider SELLING it.

You need to get the model of your motherboard, not the processor, and then you can search on websites for replacement memory for that board.

I believe by the writing on the memory, you have DDR400 SODIMM memory set 2.5V, but you have to get the right speed that the motherboard can handle.

"DDR400 (2.5) 256MX8" search that on the internet and read carefully.
