I want to test my ac Adaptor. That is why I want to run my laptop only on AC power. Can I try this.

What could be the reason that moment I put AC adaptor, it shutsdown and never come up again.

Laptop works fine when its only on batttery.

Problem could be with AC adaptor. But what other possiblilities are there.

You could run a laptop w/o a battery as long as you connect the cable to it. But that is not recommended. The battery is not only to turn on the laptop, it also helps recover things. When the hard rive just shuts off, the battery helps to recover some of the programs that were running. So keeping the battery is highly recommended.

That doesn't sound right. All of the ones I have used the AC would work with the battery in and act as a kind of trickle charge for the battery to keep it charged.
