A thyroid medication called T3. It can be found as Cytomel or in Armour which is both T4 & T3.

Many people who are hypothyroid have fibro and the T3 medications help to get rid of the muscle and joint aches. It's easier to get on these meds if you test positive for hypothyroidism, but there are some doctors who will treat fibro with these medications.

Take a look at Magnesium for fibromyalgia. There is a specific form called Magnesium Malate (Magnesium combined with Malic acid) - the magnesium feeds the nerves which in turn control the muscles which may help with tenderness, stiffness and gut problems associated with Fibro. The malic acid seems to work on lowering the pain levels.Magnesium chelate may have some degree of success but if you can find malate form that would be best.

I've never heard of that one, but have several friends with fibromyalgia. Is that the one you mean? If so, each friend has different things that work for her. It's a rather vague illness or group of symptoms, honestly, and affects people differently. One friend uses Asian medicine including acupuncture (ow!) and gets excellent relief with it. Another uses high-powered expectorants (like Mucinex) which somehow remove the salicylates in her system. Another drinks only properly distilled water and finds relief that way. It's a strange illness. It usually requires several visits to several doctors to figure out the diagnosis since it's as hard to diagnose as it is to treat because of all the different ways it manifests itself.

Try some of the standard home remedies for gout and arthritis to see if those help. They certainly won't hurt! The glucosamine-chondroitin tablets help some folks. Using liquid pectin in grape juice (2 teaspoons mixed into 8 oz grape juice 2-3 times a day) helps others. Rubbing odorless castor oil on the sore joints twice daily helps some people. Others are helpd by drinking 4 oz of 100% cherry juice 2-3 times a day. (Don't get the 100% juice that comes in cherry flavor, as it's mostly grape and apple with a little cherry juice thrown in for the flavor. You may need to go to the healthfoods store for real cherry juice, but if it works, it's worth the hassle.)

To help relieve muscle soreness, place a bar of soap (I'm not kidding, stop laughing, it really does work) under the bottom sheet on your bed near the area that's stiff or sore. For leg cramps or stiff legs, put it at the foot of the bed, but not where you'll kick it. For neck stiffness or muscle headaches, place it near your pillow or just under the edge but out of your way. Make sure it's real soap (not a fancy glycerine or body wash bar) and replace it every 6-10 weeks. This works for many people. If it works for you, you'll know when to replace it because you'll start hurting again. It's not just because it gets in the way (I keep mine tucked out of my way) but there is really something in the soap that makes it work this way. The doctors don't know what it is, but say it can't hurt and is cheap, so try it. It works for about 65% of the people, so it's not just a fluke thing or mind-over-matter. If it works for you, great. If not, take the soap out and go have a nice bath.

I hope this helps with your illness.

I have used a natural product from nativeremedies.com for my thyroid problems, and it seems to be helping than my other medication. I do not know why doctors do not recommend that site.

Hi Jon

Here are some tips to help the healing process. #7 is the most important step.

Causes of Fibromyalgia
There is not one specific cause for primary fibromyalgia. Certain common features among fibromyalgia patients provide a better idea as to the primary factors that are involved in its onset, however. These include dental amalgam fillings, hormone imbalances, infection, neurotransmitter imbalances, sleep problems, problems with the thalamus gland, and physical trauma. Other factors that can play a role include chemical and food allergies and sensitivities, chronic stress, and dysfunctions in system.muscle metabolism.

Conventional physicians treat fibromyalgia primarily through the use of painkiller medications. Such an approach fails to address the multiple causes of fibromyalgia, and also carries with it the risk of serious side effects. In addition, this symptom care approach is typical of conventional medicine`s failure to properly understand chronic health conditions such as fibromyalgia, which explains why it so often fails to successfully treat such conditions. Practitioners of alternative medicine, on the other hand, focus their treatment approaches on the multiple factors involved in fibromyalgia in order to eliminate them, while simultaneously stimulating the body`s ability to repair itself. What follows is an overview of some of the most common therapies they employ in order to achieve those goals

Quick Action Plan for Fibromyalgia

1. A healthy, whole foods diet is an important part of any fibromyaglia treatment program. Emphasize organic foods, especially fresh, organic vegetables, and drink plenty of pure, filtered water throughout the day. For even more benefits, consider adopting a vegetarian diet, which has been shown to significantly reduce fibromyalgia symptoms.

2. Essential nutrients to help treat fibromyalgia include vitamin C, vitamin E, niacinimide (vitamin B3), eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA-an essential fatty acid), magnesium, selenium, zinc, and the lipotrophic factors inositol, methionine, and phosphatidyl choline. The nutritional supplements cetyl myristoleate and SAMe are also highly beneficial, as it the Meyers Cocktail, which must be administered by a trained health care practitioner.

3. Herbal remedies for fibromyalgia include cayenne and chamomile. An herbal combination of tinctures of black cohosh, celery, dandelion, devil`s claw, Echinacea, and licorice in equal parts, can also be helpful.

4. Homeopathic remedies for fibromyalgia include Arnica, Bryonia, and Rhus. Tox.

5. Various bodywork therapies, such as Massage, Acupressure, Bowen Therapy, Feldenkrais, myotherapy, Rolfing, Shiatsu, Therapeutic Touch, and Trigger Point Therapy, can provide significant relief of fibromyalgia pain and speed healing.

6. Mind/body medicine therapies such as biofeedback, guided imagery and visualization, hypnotherapy, and meditation, can help relieve chronic stress, thereby soothing muscle tension and reducing pain

7. Be sure to do a colon and liver cleanse to clean out the toxins in the colon and the blood. Most important step is cleansing and detoxifying the body.

Best of health to you

I think you mean Fibromyalgia. And different people take different medications for it. For me, I take Desiperamine for it. And it helps me a lot. Makes the pain manageable.

You need to talk to your doctor. Your doctor is the only one you can discuss your choices in meds with.

But to help you with other things you can do and for more info about fibromyalgia here is the National Fibromyalgia Association website. http://www.fmaware.org/

It should be noted that Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are two seperate things. Though, often people who suffer with fibromyalgia also suffer with Chronic fatigue as well.

Fibromyalgia unfortunately isn't "curable" yet. When we treat fibromyalgia, we really just treat they symptoms. We use simple medicines like Analgesics (for pain), Antidepressants, and Muscle relaxants.

In combination, these medicines can alleviate the majority of the problems associated with fibromyalgia.

Good luck!
