I was appalled, in the last question I answered, at the number of people who actually believe Clinton was never impeached. Still sitting here shaking my head in disbelief. One person even gave a link to support her notion, and her own link proved her wrong.

Steve C: I understand why you think I'm trying to deflect attn, but trust me that's not my point. I'm not a conservative or a liberal, just a horrifed moderate. Horrified at the level of education in this country that allows our citizens to be so ignorant about their own governmental procedures. I was a Bill fan and will probably work on Hillary's campaign. I couldn't agree w/you more about our current President.

It's hard to know what to say to those who are so ignorant they refuse to even look it up before putting both feet in their mouths - and then have the nerve to call others an idiot. As most of the educated posters on here have asserted, President Clinton was impeached, on two counts. The Senate did not vote to put him on trial for removal. And oh my I'm still laughing that veritas thinks Clinton resigned! That's a hoot! Unfrickingbelievable.

Well...I haven't ALWAYS known what the true definition of impeachment was until I looked it up...but to follow up the "he wasn't impeached' with 'you idiot go back to school' was pretty amusing, don't you think?

Yes, he was impeached. Apparently a lot of people think that you have to be convicted to be impeached. Impeach means accuse. He was impeached, but not for the more serious charges that he should have been.
You may recall that over 900 FBI files were found in the White House. It is a felony to have one of those files in your possession. Apparently, the information in those files was being used to blackmail members of the House and Senate. I can't understand how the Congress funds an agency that keeps dirt on them, that can be used to blackmail them by the Executive branch. Former Representative Bob Barr of Georgia is one of the Representatives that is suing Clinton for this.

The problem is, IMHO, that many people don't understand what "impeachment" means. Impeachment is similar to an indictment. It's the process of formally bringing charges against someone. A trial then takes place in the senate. Clinton was impeached by the House but was not convicted in the senate trial.

Clinton was impeached just not convicted of the issue at hand
Two presidents: Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton, both acquitted.
One cabinet officer, acquitted after he had resigned.
One Senator, expelled and charges dismissed.
Thirteen federal judges, including Associate Justice Samuel Chase in 1805.

most people I've found have no idea what Impeachment is, they think that if you're not convicted by the Senate, you haven't been Impeached. that shows the shortcomings in our education system. I also noticed the number of people who thought he hadn't been Impeached and just shrugged

People are just confused because he was impeached but not convicted. I have to applaud you on drawing attention away from our CURRENT travesty of a president. If there was not a republican- led congress for most of his terms, he should have been impeached also. Him and Cheney are both jokes.

He was impeached for what lying under oath. For having extra marital affair. Republicans couldn't really find any fault on him except that(he's done a superb job running the country with the surplus,economy etc). Compare that to the present POTUS.

He was impeached. That is plain as day. Don't waste your time arguing with people who do not believe this. They are the same people who still believe Clinton did not have sexual relations with that woman, Mrs. Clinton.
