No wizards use electriecity. They have magic, so WHY do they need electric things? Electricity and related things go haywire around Howgwarts because of all the magic. Read the books before you make judgements....this is all in the books!!

as Hermione always says: these things can't function because of the magic at Hogwarts (remember when the reporter Rita skeeter was after harry and when harry said he'd seen malfoy speaking into his hand like into a microphone - that's when Hermione said why a microphone couldn't actually work )
... although they really could at least use ink point pens ;)

Because it's set in England, & that the common cliché about England is that it's old fashionned & very country-like.
(Plus the whole world seems to think that all English people live like the Queen...)
And also probably because JK Rowling wrote her novels without talking endlessly about computers & video games... She probably had the legends of Medieval times in mind, like the Knights of the Round Table & Merlin the Magician...

I agree with the first response. In the books the authors don't go into that great of detail. Personnaly I love it the way they use "rolls of parchment" with quills. But basically with the first response further disctintion from our world. Or something like that.

I think it just adds to the ambiance of the movies...makes it seem more romantic & magical, as well as the fact that the modern inventions are muggle inventions.

Technology and magic have never mixed well -- cold iron (the basis of technology) is antithetical to all magic and magical creatures. Just being true to the reality!
