I hate to be the one to tell you this, but you are trying to live a real life in a virtual game. You have invested a lot of time in this game, and are transferring this investment to this girl. And it seems like you are wanting to make a huge leap.
It can be done. I hate to admit it, but I have been a youth advisor for many years to many young people, and have seen it work, and I have seen it not work. As I say, it can be done, but you really don't know this girl.
Have you ever talked to her on the telephone, or even used a webcam and mic to talk to her? The next logical step if you wish to pursue this friendship, is to slow down, and see if you can meet for a friendly lunch or something. Do not read too much into her virtual life as it represents her real life.
You both may be wonderful people, and something more could develop, but look at yourself first. You are afraid to move closer, you may lose her. If she feels like you are a good friend, it is reasonable for her to have the same fears.
IM is not the same as a telephone. Try to arrange a face to face meeting, for something minor, not like a real date.
Slow down, relax, and become a little less available. If she feels strongly about you, she will start to initiate more conversation.
Talk to other girls in a social situation that you know. Not like a serious date, just something simple. This will help you develop a better understanding of what women want in real life, so when you finally do meet your virtual friend, you will be better prepared to be social, and less nervous.
Good luck to both of you. As I said earlier, I have seen these relationships develop into something more than just a virtual friendship, but not always.
My nephew actually married a girl he met online, but he was being friends with about a dozen of them before he developed the skills he needed and learned enough about his wants before he committed to this one.
Good luck to all of you.

I don't think I understand your question, but then if there's something that you really like that she doesn't then maybe you all aren't that compatible after all. In order to be friends with someone, you shouldn't have to change who you are or hide who you are, so you should reveal it and put the ball in her court.
