I'd say Bailey or Jason Taylor from Miami. My vote would be for Bailey. He's held some of the best WRs in the league in check this year and he is an excellent run support corner as well. Best overall CB in the league.

I'm a die hard eagles fan and one of my friends is a die hard broncos fan. We've talked about this exact question over the past couple years and I have finally come to the conclusion that he is indeed THE BEST cornerback to play in the NFL for the last decade or so. Also, Bailey doesn't have the stats to be defensive player of the year. Why? Because after the QB throws and interception to him, he doesn't get the ball thrown his way anymore... Trust me. I didn't want to believe that "lie" either, but after keeping my eye on Bailey during a few games, he is the best shut down corner I have ever seen.

No, Jason Taylor is having a great season. Through 15 games he has: 13.5 sacks, 2 INTs (both returned for TDs), 9 forced fumbles, and 11 passes defensed.
13.5 sacks is good but it's those other numbers that are amazing...especially the INTs and PDs because as a DE that just shows how athletic and good he really is. Bailey's the best shut-down corner in the game but his numbers (9 INTs, 20 PD, 0 TDs) just don't compare to Taylor's.

Top DB of the year no question, But I put someone like jason taylor who has been dominent almost all year. Merriman would be my first pick he is a cheat and used performance enhancing drugs. I just like the overall performance taylor has givin, after week 16:
13.5 sacks
2 ints (which is pretty amazing for a DE to get 1 let alone 2)
and 9 forced fumbles

No. Taylor is better statistically. But that shouldn't discount how good Champ is though. I would think it's this:
1. Jason Taylor
2. Champ Bailey
3. Brian Dawkins
Merriman is a cheater, he shouldn't be on the ballot at all.

i wish this is Jay Cutler. if so something of the league greater advantageous pay attention. He confirmed poise final season and has a canon of an arm. Travis Henry would have a monster season in Denver. Champ remains the appropriate participant interior the nfl, not purely on protection. carry back Al Wilson! large Bowl sure, all Broncos followers are down with ACE!

If not Bailey then Urlacher. Bailey is having an awesome year. Too bad the offense is not that great.

He could be. But I think Brian Urlacher should be. He has had a better year than Champ Bailey in my opinion.

I think Shawn Merriman should be defensive player of the year. It dosen't look like anyone is better if you can still be leading the leauge in sacks after missing four games and after the drug suspencion if he hasn't been using steroids than it dosen't really seem to effect him he still gets about 2 sacks a game. So wouldn't if be fair to give it to him? And I think Taylor just wants the award that is why he is complaining.
