A company called Proppant Specialists LLC, is coming into our area and making offers to various farmers, and property owners, so that Proppant can come and mine silica. We are unfamiliar with this company, and the impact this mining process will have on our community, environment, water, wildlife, etc. Is there anyone who can share information about this? Is there anyone who knows how to find out? Has anyone had experience with this?
Please tell me as much as you can. The town meeting is on Jan 3rd. We want to know as much as we can beforehand.

These ought to help. Most of the mining situations I know of are in desert areas and far from towns. Even though the process has a negligable effect out there, anything close to towns will have the nusance effects of dust, noise, and truck traffic not previously accustomed to. You folks probably won't suffer, but there will always be those that perceive a problem no matter how pristine the plant. Good luck.
