I actually just finished doing a project on the connection between the 2004 Sumatra tsunami and earthquakes, brush fires and landslides. An earthquake caused the tsunami. The earthquake caused the land underwater to shift and displace a large mass of water. This only made the water hit the shore of several areas. After the tsunami, the wind currents changed, and the water evaporated traveling across the ocean. The moisture of the land caused a landslide all the way in California! After landslides, the water is extremely loose and susceptible. So, a brush fire occurred due to the fertile land. Here are some sights to help also. Hope this helps!

discovery channel has been running a very in depth study of many of the natural disasters this week one of which was about the tsunami of 2004. So I would suggest going to discovery channel.com and they should be able to give you the scientific information of the earthquake that promted the tsunami.

HBO has an excellent mini-series you can order on HBO on demand. It was very, very good.
It showed all the aftermath that you didn't even think of--like the cremation of the bodies before they were even identified and such. The fact that this was predicted before it happened.
A very good mini-series. You should watch it if you get the chance.
Here is a website.
