i dont know that he's a guitar god, but man oh man, the guy is great!

i'm only saying he's not a guitar god because to me, that means someone that has done many styles of music, and has been around a long long time. cantrell has done different stuff, but not a massive variety, and he's got about a 20 year career under his belt. give him 10 more, and then he can try for the pantheon of rock gods level.

awesome player though, and he's a riff machine like nobody's business. i dont think anyone has been as consistent since the days of black sabbath.

Yes...I think he is amazing!!! Saw him in Knoxville TN a few years ago and I was in awe. Lane Staley was a HUGE loss to Alice in Chains and I haven't heard much from Jerry Cantrell since.

He performs lead vocals on his solo projects, and was part of Alice in Chains' distinctive dual-vocal harmonic style. Jerry is an excellent guitarist but not consistent. Eric Clapton is STILL the leading force in guitar circles today...
