In the US, closed Monday, open Tuesday. Under US federal banking laws, banks are not allowed to be closed for more than 3 days in a row.

Banks will be closed on January 1st. They will be open on January 2nd. Banks by law can only be closed at most two days. So because they are closed on Sunday and Monday, they have to be open on Tues. Happy New Year
