Sadly because people today seem less interested in art or culture, "the MTV generation".
Mythology and folklore has always inspired art and music, from Wagner's flight of the Valkyries, to rock bands such as Jethro Tull's song "jack in the green".
In art there are paintings inspired by the Arthurian legends, Greek mythology, to such a degree it influenced poetry via the talents of William Blake.
I think that in a society that is blinded my materialism and Americanisms, art and culture just doesn't get the recognition it deserves as we sink further into a culture-less abyss.
Mythology and folklore being the foundation of any culture.

Hmm... not sure that you can divide M & F from 'pagan connotations' so neatly!

After all, there seems to be a fair degree of Hellenistic/ Roman or Northern European 'mythology' mixed in with the Eastern/ Polytheism and Shamanism in modern 'neo'paganism wouldn't you say?

That aside, I think maybe people are confused, or just haven't found here!

Why not post some more questions here yourself and give it a more distinct "Mythological" flavour to make the distinction clearer!?

I think it depends on the day. I don't agree as someone else has said that people are afraid. After all much of myth and folklore are part of our history, even if sometimes it's distorted. I'm sure its because of the wording of the rooms title. Perhaps you were looking for something with more pagan connotations.

Probably because people no longer believe in Mythology & Folklore as they did 1000 years ago. It's the 21st Century, hello?
People of old believed in that stuff because they didn't know how to explain strange sightings, noises, etc. Plus they didn't have TV so the folklore was a way to entertain friends and family, to pass fun stories to their children and grandchildren.
Most people don't have questions or want to talk about fairies, voodoo, and mermaids because they are too busy searching for truth these days. Myths and folklore are seen as a waste of time.

Now if one of our soldiers in Iraq spots a mermaid off the Gulf coast, it'll be all over CNN and this category will be flooded!

People are afraid to explore what they don't understand or have heard bad things about. So they don't even seek the knowledge. Very few of us actually open our minds to learning about things that the rest of society may see as a hoax, joke, or scary. so, this section is pretty quiet. I too am dissapointed by this. We could all learn some great stuff in here!

Didn't know there was a mythology/folklore section. Love mythology and will look here in future.

I think that mythology and folklore have taken a backseat to more current and sexier topics. It is really too bad because the stories and anecdotes that are central to these stories reflect human concerns and ideals, archetypes and so on.

Most Atheists and freethinkers use the religion board as religion is Mythology. Christians will not use this board as they are afraid of Witches,Spirits, Tree-Huggers, all Wiccans, all Pagans, all Atheists, Freethinkers, and Science.

It's hidden within Society & Culture. Which I think is the wrong place to put it. Maybe you should start a poll to get it on main menu. Didn.t know it existed till I saw your question lol. regards...
