I don't use this word either.

To set the record straight, the meaning behind the word is what's important (meaning how it is used and by whom), not the word itself. I do believe it's wrong to say this word, but I am fully aware of the difference in meaning when it's said by a racist non-black person and when it's said my some high school kid to another one of his friends.

This word should just be allowed to die out, but thanks to record execs and hip hop culture, I doubt this will happen anytime soon.

If you knew any non-teen black people you could speak to, you would hear the truth. Most black folks despise this word when it's being used by anyone. Who wants to be reminded of slave days and Jim Crow days (look this up on Wikipedia - I know many of you don't know what this is!)? Naturally, all of the rest of the world knows is what they see in the media - on MTV, BET, FUSE, in movies, etc.

Ignorance is bliss - and I mean this for anyone of any race who uses this word.

White people say "n!gger", and its pretty much always meant to be the racial slur that it is. Which is why not many of them say it (unless they are behind closed doors).
SOME black people say "N!gga". Slightly different. Basically they kinda turned it around and now use it as a term of endearment amongst the black community. Saying "thats my n!gga" means saying something like "thats my good friend".
I personally do not say the word, and I don't condone anyone else using it. But, there definitely is a difference.

yes, and have you ever noticed that when you tell a kid they are stupid all of their lives, they began to believe it themselves and start to act that way as well?
Well, it is just the same for a lot of black people. They have been called n*gger for so long by the white race that they began to get comfortable with calling themselves that. And that is the reason it is ok for a black person to say n*gga and it is not ok for a white person to say n*gger. i don't know if you have noticed the spellings for these words but they are spelled differently because they have different meanings. N*gga is a "friendly" term, N*gger is used to bring forth racism and hatred so if everyone stop saying those words for bad meanings then it could change the meaning of the word and anyone could say it without offense.
AND I AM NOT RACIST AT ALL, I JUST USE LOGIC!!!!!!

Yes. The reason is that black people have turned n*gger around to become a word used for racial identification and unity.

This is a classic example of how to turn something oppressive into something empowering. It makes total sense.

It is too bad that along the way this concept got derailed and the word is now used both ways by blacks, as a derogatory word, and as an affirmative word.

I think it is an inappropriate term for ANYONE to use. How can racism be totally eradicated when there are two sets of rules for everyone?

Thats allowed. Its like Borat poking fun at Jew's (i have nothing against Jews incidentally) since he is Jewish himself. Like The cast of Goodness Gracious Me (UK comedy) can make fun of Asian people since they are Asian themselves.

Yes, if they don't want others calling them that, they should have never used it themselves for each other. They should have just let it die out.
