There are so many ways a person can do something to a knee (injure it, knock it out whack, etc.) you may want to try keeping it as still as possible when you walk. If you can find a position that will make it hurt less to walk, even if that means "locking the knee" and walking funny, try that for a day or two.

Maybe you could tell your parents you'd like to see a doctor if the knee isn't better in a day or two. I, personally, don't see the harm in a trip out for a x-ray if you did something to injure the knee; but if its "just" (sorry for the term "just") hurting and you don't know what you did or didn't do to cause it there's the chance its just temporarily out of whack and will go back on its own.

There's also a chance you could have a little arthritis in it (particularly if you've injured it in the past) or you could have some other thing wrong.

If there's an injury an anti-inflammatory drug like ibuprofen is the type of thing someone with an injury may take to relieve pain.

Your parents may not be being "know it alls". Maybe they've had enough stuff in their life that they know some things that hurt are pretty temporary, and sometimes the only thing a doctor can do is tell you its injured, don't move it, and wait for it to heal.

Even if you did something like sleep with your shin hanging over the bed and your knee kind of being bent in the wrong direction you can make some bad pain for a day or so. Try to be patient with your parents. Try not to move it. I don't know them, but I'd think if its still bad in another day or two they'll be more willing to bring you to a doctor.

If you are a teen and your knee hurts on the very top of your shinbone, just below the kneecap, and if you notice a small bump that is pretty sensitive then you have a condition called Osgood-Schlatter's. There is absolutely nothing you can do about it, except stay off your feet and wear a knee pad. Learn to deal with the pain.

You get it when you are going through growth spurts and the more sports you play the worse it gets.

Ever think that maybe they won't accept you because they've already told you over and over again that your bone is bruised. A bruised bone won't show purple on the skin.
Have you fallen on your knee recently? Jolted it at all to cause it to become bruised?

Instead of asking the physians what's wrong over and over, LISTEN. Take their advice, if they agree with your parentt that it's a bruised bone well then ask... "doctor how can i treat it?"

Cut your parents and the doctor some slack ok?
