People can't walk with their families to the gate after 9/11. People have to take off their shoes after the guy tried to light his shoes on fire. People can't take drinks through airport security after those terrorists tried to make the Gatorade explosives. So tell me this. When a terrorist figures out that he can tie a knife or blade of some kind to his genitals, will we all need to start getting cavity searches in airport security?

Tara - what about cavity searches? You missed my question.

A knife would set off a metal detector, but when they get out the wand, you could always blame it on a Jacob's ladder or some other genital piercing.

But, for the sake of argument, let's say it was some sort of plastic explosive. The same thing they put in the Gatorade. Either way, it's a place they're not checking that you could hide some weapons.

Airport security is not about keeping the airports or the passengers safe; it's only about the appearance of safety. Airport with high terrorist threats (such as Israel) have officials that are trained to spot suspicious people or people that are lying. America has the TSA which checks driver licenses. And the security restrictions apply to commercial flights. Private flights (such as corporate planes) don't have the same level of security. Osama bin Laden spent 1 million dollars on 9/11. You can get lots of private flights with that kind of money.

Most of the security measures are for show. If the gov't actually wanted to do something they would have done it before 9/11. Any idiot could have seen how easy it was to get things through security before then.

a knife tied to the groin will set off the metal detector we all have to pass thru on our way to the gate. besides which, no crew will meekly submit to a box cutter again after 9-11

It does not difficulty me ( i'm between the organic blondes LOL). I even shaggy dog tale with native land risk-free practices approximately it. On my final holiday, once I went interior the direction of the scanner i became referred to as over for a pat down. It became this massive colored guy (nicely over 6 feet and equipped like a brick ****homestead) who became doing the part i became directed to, yet his back became became. whilst he became around and observed it became a woman he merely stopped and regarded around for a girl officer. I stated "good subject you probably did that. it does no longer do your ego any good to be considered being assaulted with the aid of a grandma and her hand bag". the different HS team there all burst out giggling. the female officer that got here visiting stated to him "circulate over small fry and enable me manage the difficult shoppers'. What scares me is that if I ought to learn bags. each and every flight interior the final 3 years have lost my bags. thankfully it as continually became up and been dropped at me 2 - 3 days later. yet on no account back will I shuttle with something different than hand bags. i will absolutely comprehend the will for top risk-free practices for passengers flying from the united kingdom to the u . s . a . because of the fact the united kingdom border risk-free practices at airports is farcical. they openly admit to no longer checking travellers as they might desire to and that they have no concept what number trouble-free terrorists and criminals enter and bypass away the united kingdom on a every day foundation. My next flight to the u . s . a . would be with the aid of Heathrow. I even have on no account been to that airport in the past and the concept if doing so scares me stupid as I even have heard first hand from to a lot of human beings of ways undesirable it relatively is. They're trying their best to protect life. That's not bad. They're hampered by the need to appear politically correct. That's not good.

Hey you know what? I rather not take my drink with me, and have to remove my shoes then have another 9/11. I'll take the extra couple minutes in security to prevent another attack. This is not that same Amercia it was 6 years ago. Sad, but true.
