That is entirely a decision to be made by the Iraqi government.. If this attitude worked in the Nuremberg trials, why is it not acceptable in Iraq? Those found guilty after the 2nd WW were decidedly prisoners of war.. Saddam is not!! Even if he were considered such, he would still be eligible for the hangman's noose.

Saddam is not a prisoner of war. He is a criminal. As no war has been officially declared against Iraq his status as a "war" anything is invalid.

Its the decision of the Iraqi people, even though Americans have and will be paying the bill for this mess for countless years to come. Was it worth it for Iraqis? Maybe so...maybe not. Was it worth it for Americans? I honestly dont see how. I dont buy the "Iraq a threat to America" garbage.

i know an iraqi friend of mine, he is a kurd and belonged to the minority group that saddam tortured for yrs...he admits the sentence is a little harsh and comes as a result of american involvement. i think the fact he lost his sons is enough pain for anyone in life to endure.

I wonder if back in the day the American Government might be convicted of war crimes in their dealings with the native Indians they massacred?

How is this any different?

I believe, an eye for an eye, Saddam must be punished for his crimes.
What he is guilty of, is mass murder.
Along with all of his henchmen who carried out his orders.
Hanging is too quick, he should be tortured to death like so many of his victims.
