You make mortgage payments on the bank side of the building that also houses the post office.

this is the easiest way my lil sis and found out, but you'll need another person with the game willing ot help. if you get fruit from someone elses town, just fill up ur pockets and even buy letters and put the fruit in the letters, then just click the letters and click present,
then you seel that fruit to nook and you can get like over 10,000 bells, do that a few times and ur good to go, also, fossils are an excellent way for bells to, just have them appraised at the museum by blothers and sell them to nook, just dont donate them to blothers, when you have ennough go to the post office and pay on the right side of the desk, i paid off my second expansion in less than a half an hour, it sucks cuz we cant use money codes in this one,,, but i hope this helps!

Go to the town hall, and walk over to the post office side of the room. Talk to Pelly or Phylis and choose the "Pay mortgage" option. A screen will then come up asking you how much you want to pay on it. Put in however much you are, and then select confirm. When you're done, you can talk to Tom Nook and he will upgrade the size of your house if you wish.

ok, go to the town hall and on the post office side, talk to whoever is working there at the moment. it'll say something like pay debt or something. choose that then press in the number of bells you would like to pay. once your done there should be a done button on the bottom.

then after your done, go to tom nook's store. as soon as you walk in he'll say you've paid your mortgage. he'll then ask if you want to expand. say yes (you don't have a choice though really)

he'll then ask you what color you want your roof. once you've done all that, your house should have expanded by the next day! then you get to start all over again!!!! how fun!

You have to go to the Town Hall. Go to the second window (one on the right, by the recycle bin) and talk to Pelly/Phillis.
