Why do men spend all their money on video games? Speakers and expensive radios for their card/trucks that they don't need? Personally I don't spend tons of money every day or every other day either!!!!

For some women it is because they are bored and/or unhappy, and if they buy stuff it can be a temporary and small joy for a little while. When the "high" wears off they need to buy something else.
Sometimes, too, though, women are the ones who want to make a home nice for their families; so they buy things that contribute to a more pleasant home environment. They may believe it is important to appear attractive, so they buy clothes and make-up. They may have children and believe the children need things to supplement their education or to feel "as good" as all the other kids, so they buy stuff for them. Women also tend to be the buyers of gifts. Because women are often in the role of taking care of emotional needs of everyone, including themselves, they often are also in the role of spending in order to do that.
Whether its the first case or the second, it isn't "fascination". It is often need. When it isn't need it is often boredom. Also, it isn't unusual to hear a woman say, "I figure this $10 candle that will make me happy is cheaper than a prescription for anti-depressants." (One thing to note about a lot of women: They are quite skilled at being able to cope with unhappiness without seeking the help of others, but that means they may decide that a some new throw pillows or a bath mat are the things that will brighten their mood enough to be able to feel a little better.)
Women often have more of an abillity to understand themselves and other humans better; and they can know what it will take to improve a mood without resorting to something "extreme" like getting antidepressants.

Idiot-proof answer: "It is out of insecurity"
And it's not something that happens to just men or just women. Quoting another answer
" Why do men spend all their money on video games?"
Why do people resort top heavy buying???
Simply put, heavy buying, outside of buying things to help them create (IE pianos to learn music), is a way people compensate for what they can not create in their own hobbies and talents. So, all too often, they show off to their friends their belongings instead of their talents (IE showing off new set of speakers or clothes instead of showing off talent creating music and good physical shape).
Gathering things simply makes people feel they are talented, as if they have created whatever clothes, music, etc. they buy and have talent equivalent to what they own.
Yes, sadly, heavy buying is mostly "back-up" for people who can't approach the talents they really want to have, and it is done out of insecurity.

I don't unless I feel reallly bad (which'd only be like a once every 6mnths trip anyway.) It's a sort of therapy. Makes you feel like you're starting anew.
But, personally, I'm not that materialistic. I buy more stuff for my girlfriends than myself, every month there's another bday!

sometimes that is the only thing that makes you feel good, just like some people turn to drugs and alcohol or food yes I am a shopaholic I have to ground myself from wal-mart and eBay my husband can't even send me to the hardware store because I find cool things to buy there too. we would probably have an extra grand a month if I stayed out of stores.

I don't know. I just enjoy shopping immensely and would love to become a personal shopper so I could get paid for shopping using someone else's money. That's my ultimate dream job.

That is a generalisation. The same reason that a lot of men want to sit on the couch all day, fart and watch football.

Its possible that if this is done often, it may not be a fascination as much as it considered to be a compulsive disorder.

It's just fun!! Hard to describe. Umm........ it's just fun to have a variety of stuff and be able to pick out what you want. However, if you have no money, it's no fun at all. That is unless you're with you friends or you see a hot guy or two... :)
