I just bought a Wii at Best Buy and the game disc's look to be DVD size. So I was wondering if it plays DVD's or CD's.

Not right now. But Nintendo is planning to add DVD support. Probably will be some sort of software update but more than a firmware update (this was confirmed by Nintendo as they say thay are going to release a DVD-capable Wii in Japan.

The wii can't play cd's nor dvd's. the reason being trouble-free... why upload extra accesories to allow it to play cd's and dvd's while it will advance its value, nintendo introduced that throughout the time of the previous launch and says that generally anybody has a dvd participant, so why build one in?
