pads take some getting used to. you have to try different brands to find what works for you. it all depends on your own comfort and how heavy your flow is. tampons are another step and if your ready for them then try it but i know plenty of women that have used pads their whole lives. when you go to the store just try a couple smaller packs of different ones...thicker and thinner. and you'll figure out when its a good time to change them..it just takes practice..
good luck!!

Awww, hunny....
What you are going through is totally normal.
I was even embarassed to buy the tampons and pads
in the store in fear that someone would make notice and
comment upon my purchasing them!

But in all honesty,
You have just just let it go...
Almost all females have their periods,
And it's actually a very, very good thing.
You shouldn't be uncomfortable with the changes
going on within' your body, You should be totally
excited about them! It's a great change,
And your becoming a young woman!
It's a great stage in life, and it's all for the better.

There are lots of pads that you can try,
You just have to go for it and experience it.
Just go ahead and choose out a particular brand,
And if it doesn't work for you, there are always other selections!
Just be sure to try new things, and get out there and live life!

Though you may get cramps, And you may realllllly want chocolate durring that time of the month, It's still an experience to always embrace. It's part of being a woman.

I usually use tampons durring the day,
And at night I will use pads,
Strickly because tampons are related to TSS.
And TSS is a rare but very dangerous disease.
If you keep tampons in for more than 4 hours,
It's known to cause a foul odor in your personal areas.

Just be sure to welcome yourself into womanhood!
And love your self durring this wonderful transaction!

Congradulations!!!

While I don't personally use pads, I would recommend using the ultra thins. They seem like they would be the best for fit and comfort, while offering the best level of protection. Also, I would recommend using the type with "wings" to protect your underwear...accidents still happen.

As for feeling like you need to change your pad all the time, don't sweat it. You should be able to go at least 3-4 hours without changing. You'll adjust and get used to things in a couple of months.

Good luck and welcome to womanhood!
