That fact is ps2 graphics don't suck. They are as good as graphics are gonna get for a long while. Everybody graphic developer expert knows it. Thats why next gen developers went Hi-Def. Graphics have very little to do with resolution scheme. HDTV techonology ,as it now stands, is weak and rather embarassing when measured up to the hype of fan boys. Hi-Def next gen is the "Lebron James" of the gaming industry: much hype, little substance. We live in a "trend" society, where exotic"shells" are treasured over a solid, effective product. I can remember just 4 yrs ago when fanboys were going crazy over ps2 graphics and now fanboys make it seem as if ps2 is atari compared to these next gen consoles and that is sorely misleading. When everybody can afford an HDTV , the next gen consoles will lose there exotic appeal and fade away into mediocrity like the ps2 and original xbox. It's all about something being out-of-reach rather than something being a solid, enjoyable product to these fanboys

Well you my friend are a hardcore gamer, the kind of people I like. I still own and play my SNES and Sega and Dreamcast and every other older system. To me, they will never be ancient, they will never be out of date. They will be the ground work of some amazing things.

Graphics aren't everything, they shouldn't be. Yes, it takes a lot of talent to create realistic graphics, but if you don't have a HDTV or can't afford it (or spent your last few hundred on the outragiously priced Xbox/Ps3) then graphics really don't mean anything.

I think game play, storylines, innovation are what should matter. It takes patience to create graphics, but it takes a great mind to think outside of that box and create newer and greater things.

I applaud you on your question. The Ps2 is not ancient, nor will it be for some time. Even if it were ancient, it's still an amazing creation that will probably outlast some of the newer stuff.

Well those people who say that the PS2 is ancient are just... silly heads. The PS2 has some solid games on it. And anyone who knocks the old systems have no clue what those games were like. The Ducktales games? Hours of fun. The original arcade version of Mario was amazing as well. I also agree on the graphical problems of new systems. It takes a long time for the developers to be able to utilize the systems hardware to create a nice graphic. Compare Early PS graphics to late SNES graphics. The SNES beats the PS for a good year in that department. But I'm just a lowly video game enthusiast, what do I know?

Well, I have to say, if you think we only play video games for the graphics, then you should have gotten an x-box instead of a ps2 (by the way, I have a ps2, not an x-box). When game developers become overly dependent on the graphics of their games, they make boring games.

As long as graphics don't start to get worse, I'm not concerned about them. There is hype about graphics getting better and better, people are excited about the rapid technological innovations of the 21st century, but I don't think anyone would argue that great graphics = great games. If that were the case, then computer games would dominate; much higher resolution, swappable video cards, insane processor speeds, on top of having $1000+ invested in the computer itself, compared to $500 for a ps3.

Anyone who says ps2 is like atari is simply ignorant. Feel free to ignore such people; they do not deserve your attention. There's nothing wrong with not getting the "latest and greatest" as soon as it's available. Get what you want, when you want it, and don't waste your energy defending what you have from people who treasure appearance over substance.

Expert marketing, my friend, expert marketing. We are consumers in a materialistic world, and all the corporations have to do is make a commercial telling us to "Buy, buy, buy!," and we do. $400 for a game console? What a deal!! I COULD keep my perfectly good PS2 and buy food and clothes for people in need, but screw that. Yes, master!! Must... buy... PS3!!!

You can defeat them, though. Just buy up all the PS2 games you can while they are still out, sit back, and enjoy! There are enough games to keep you busy for a lifetime. Or, do like I am going to do... get up, go outside, and get a life!
