Common courtesy would make me give up my seat to someone who needed it more than I do.

I try to be on the lookout for pregnant ladies and the elderly when I'm on public transportation. If someone doesn't look well I'd offer my seat as well. An occasional beautiful lady has inspired me to give up my seat as well ;-)

I would give up my seat to a mother holding a baby
I would give up me seat to an older person its more dangerous for them to be standing than sitting. Someone that is handicaped and in need of it more than I .
Someone that is walking around with a cast or crutches as well deserve the seat more than I do.
giving is so rewarding someday I might need the seat too.

Either that person was elderly or that person was pregnant or, if that person was in a wheelchair and you were sitting in that area for the wheelchair person or if that person was walking with a cane and was looking like they were in pain. Other then that, you just stay seated.

someone older, someone pregnant, someone carrying a kid, someone with a lot of packages, someone disabled in some way... anyone who could possibly use the seat more than I need it.
