Oprah tells us that it is from an excess of testosterone, not a bad thing if you are with a bald man. The Dali Lama says Baldness is the path to wisdom and forgiveness, not bad either.

It is an interesting fact that 30% of 30 year olds, 40% of 40 year olds adn 50% of 50 year olds and so on are going bald...

I think baldness is caused by stress - and once it starts it contributes stress and makes the problem worse. These days we are taught to be in control of everything in order to be polite, have a good life, get ahead, be a good parent. That kind of stress can be unbearable and I know myself, when I get stressed I clench my jaw - others furrow their eyebrows and what not. I think the tension squishes were the folicles live and the hair can't come out. That's why is mostly works from the forehead back or the top of the head - I think they are areas where stress kind of collects, as it were.
I think we need to let life happen a bit more on it's own to avoid it - I don't know if it can be reversed, but I would try Ho Shou Wu, because I have seen it turn gray hair dark again.

PS - I see all the heredity remarks and I have to say my husband (age 42) is in a family with 3 brothers and he is the only one (including the father) who has a full thick head of hair. Even his maternal grandfather was bald.

Baldness is an inherited trait, usually carried by the mother. Depending on the man, baldness can be sexy. They do say that the much ado about hair, is vanity. I had a bald boyfriend who was a genius, and therefore very, very sexy.

Its all genetics. If your family has a history of baldness you more than likely will too.

Boils down to evolution, my friend. No need to keep the head warm any more. In 100,000 years most humans will have lost their hair. Its only natural. Even women will start to lose their hair.
