well, first you should determine what makes the pads so uncomfortable... are they too wide? do they not hold enough blood? if you think the problem is in the pad you are using, try a different type or brand.
also, tampons work really well and are not at all uncomfortable. and if you are willing to try, you can try these tips:
1. use a type with a PLASTIC applicator... these are much easier to get in than ones with cardboard applicators.
2. use the lowest absorbency there is for your first few times.
i would suggest trying tampax compak junior absorbancy.
good luck!

I started wearing tampons six months after my first period. Start with the junior kind, (they don't break your hymen, so don't worry about that.) Pads are gross and you can have accidents in the middle of the night and they make you smell like you are on your period. They aren't good for you because of the moisture. Ask your mom to help you out with the tampons thing. You have a lot of years of periods ahead of you.

You should try the Tampons... they don't hurt... just get the small kind... I would suggest... Plastic... ne ways... if you really don't want to... well then just use really thin pads... I know it feels very uncomfortable... but it's part of being a woman... ;) Just every now and then tell ur dad he's lucky he doesn't have to go threw this and throw him and UGLY look! lol and it will make u feel better... oh yeah... try to keep sum midol on u! ;) it will help with the cramps.

You might have to try a few different brands of pads before you find one that is comfortable. Go to the store with your mom and pick out a few different brands. Get some that say 'thin' on the pack.
You will get used to it eventually. Don't worry. It's something just about every woman has to go through, and don't be afraid to talk to an older female that you trust about it. When you get older, you don't mind talking about it, because it is something that is very natural to have.

dont be worried im sure if you want to try tampons im sure your do just fine! tampons are little scary at first but once you learn how you use them you dont even know they are there, it takes a little practice(i only use tampax, the slender kind)i use pads too but get the ultra thin maxi with heavy abosorbancy .i only use always because you can barely tell they are there and they have this core lock things that takes all the yucky stuff and stores it in the pad so its not touching your skin.

yesterday!? pace yourself mate, you've got a lot of years ahead of you to hate having periods!
anyway...dont worry, trying tampons is a bit nerve wracking at first, but once you get used to them you'll never look back, so get the smaller ones and have a go. try using the pads with wings if your not quite up for tampons though, they help a little but mostly it just feels like your wearing a nappy...!! good luck.

Try using one of the very thin pads with wings. Also if you want to try tampons why not buy a small box of junior size and learn how to use them in the privacy of your home.

You only have to change your pads every few hours!! And if I were you, I'd stop complaing and get used to it because you're going to be stuck with this problem for a looooooooong time. And don't try tampons yet. I haven't even done THAT. Sorry, but that's the horrible truth.
