A word of warning to all those who want to reply. Do not slag off the King. His followers are all psychotically violent and any bad words about Elvis will be met with death threats, petrol through letterboxes, burning crosses and horses heads in your bed.
It is the first rule in music journalism, do not slag off Elvis as all his fans are violently insane. Don't say you havn't been warned.

I am a huge Elvis fan! I have even turned my 3 year old daughter into one. I have a bunch of his movies. The first time my daughter(she was 2) saw the video of Elvis live in Hawaii she slapped her hands to her face and fell to the floor screaming. She reacted just like girls use to when they saw him live. It was so funny! We have been listening to Elvis' Christmas CD all month. He is so still the King! ( I bought her a little t-shirt for Christmas that says ELVIS ROCKS!)

While Elvis was a bit before MY generation, I grew up with an older sister who was and still is, wild about him. I love some of his films and all of his music, Elvis Is The King........FOREVER!

Was he ever really the King of Rock and Roll or just the popular face of it? (and a perfectly nice face too in his younger days).

There are plenty of other people and their fans who would dispute his claim to the crown like: Chuck Berry, BB King, Jerry Lee Lewis to name but three who were of at least an equal influence as Elv but maybe not so easy on the eye.

My mom was and is a huge fan, she played his records constantly when I was growing up that I could not stand his voice. Now that I am older, I love listening to his music.

In school, my chorus teacher said once that he could nevery understand how he was considered the King with the voice he had. I said that it wasn't necessarily his voice that made him famous it was the amount of records he sold that made him the King.
