YES! it is an excellent book! Just don't be discouraged by the first 3 chapters or so. They are a bit slugish! But the rest of the book is absolutly awesome! It took me a while to start reading it but once i did i couldn't put it down and now i've the book about 5 times! It is a very good book and is sure to delight any person who has ever read a fantasy book. (and yes i do read Harry Potter thanks much!)

Well I agree w/ the other that it is a great book. But I will go further=]
Eragon was a little slow, not just in the few chapters, but the first 250 pages. So after reading ti half way, I stopped. Then I saw the movie. The movie was def. not that good, or loyal to the book, as far as I remmebered but the plot was so interesting, that I though id start eragon again. I DIDN'T begin from the begining because There wasn't much I needed to remember the first 250 pages are basically, the butcher, the egg, taking care of sahphira, and meeting brom and off they go. I just finished eragon 2 nights ago, and loved it. The next half of the book is wonderful. The first half isn';t to bad, but def. a slow pace. I am now starting eldest, and that my friend, wil capture you with the first page. It is great so far and far more action packed. But of course in trilogys the first half of the book is always a slight bore, like lotr and inkheart trilogy. So I really suggest you read it. The books are my #3 in my top 3 favorite books. And I have read over a book every 2 days, so about 3 books a week. So basically I hve read alot. Eragon & eldest and the next book are sure to please you.

Eragon is a really great book to read if you like Fantasy stuff. It has lots of cool stuff in it like of course Dragons, magic, swordsmanship, and other made-up fantasy creatures, and also a new made-up language. Though I started reading the book and it was kind of boring at the beginning but when you get past the first few chapters it gets really good. I sort of got addicted to Eragon now and the second book is really good too. This is definitely the book to read when your looking for something to do because then you will not want to stop reading it.

"Eragon" is really a very enjoyable book. Paolini writes well, and the storyline is very interesting. My only complaint about "Eragon" is that it has some similarities to The Lord of the Rings, perhaps too many similarities, but at any rate, you can really tell that JRR Tolkien inspired Paolini. It is sort of a cross between LOTR, Harry Potter, and a few other miscellaneous works. However, I couldn't put it down once I started it. It isn't just for kids either, plenty of adults are into the Inheritance Trilogy now. And by the way, the book is way better than the film.

Eragon is a very good book to read, and that goes for anyone. True Fantasy readers are able to better appreciate this. (I am not referring to those who say that this book was nothing but a rip-off of The Lord of The Rings because it is not.)
Eragon has a good plot, good character development, original humor, and keeps you interested throughout. However, during the beginning things do move slowly, but do not be discouraged for it gets much better. My answer is yes, please read it and decide for yourself if it is a good book. After all, the individul reader is the only person that matters!

I really enjoyed it. It was an interesteing read...not just directed at children. The action moved well, there was good character development, the plot seemed well thought out and organized. I will admit that i enjoyed the first one better than the second one (The Eldest) but i find that the 2nd book in a trilogy is often not the best...its a transition book that prepares for the final confrontation. It is not the best book i have ever read but i would definately say it is worth reading.

Eragon was a good book especially considering it was written by a 15 year old which may account for the close resemblance to other famous works of fiction. If you can get past those and judge it on its own merits it is amazing.

When I leave a movie, I always hear "That wasn't as good as the book"
So...I've developed this theory...I will not destroy a good movie by reading the book. ;)
