YES! The best new source I can find is the book listed below. Check out the History Channel. Once and a wile, they have a documentary on ancient Greece.
It's a big question, as this encompasses about 900 years.

Yes. Homer. Sapphro. Socrates. Plato. Aristotle. Sparta. Athens. Peloponesian War. Philip of Macedonia. Alexander the Great. Byzantine Empire. Justinian. Constantine. etc. etc. That is just off the top of my head. I could use to read up more on the Ottoman Empire days and more modern times, but in answer to your question, I do know something about it.

I know a good deal of Greek History from my Humanities and Classics classes. I think it provides a good basis for understanding the development of the modern world.

yeah.Well ,Athens the capital is named after the goddess of courage war etc. This is because many years ago there was a great fight between her and the god of sees Poseidon. The men in the city wanted Poseidon because he promised the men great victories in battles fought on sees while Athena promised no wars just a happy and peaceful life.So they voted. The women outnumbered the men by one.
The highest mountain in Greece is Mount Olympus (2 917 m)a place where in ancient time battles were fought over the throne of the gods.If u need more say.
