Do you think you maybe are thinking about it deep down when you have them on, so are showing a more intimidated you to the outside world. Worrying what people think of you when you wear your specs?

I wear glasses but don't usually wear them out clubbing. But on the few occasions I have wore them, i have had the same respect as usual, and still get compliments.

If you look like 'Ugly Betty' then it's time to get some contacts! I wear glasses everyday of the year and get no hassle. I'd rather wear glasses than contact lenses. I have a few different pairs so that I can swop them around as and when I fancy it. I know this isn't always possible for people as they can be quite expensive depending on your prescription.....though having said that, the opticians will have sales on now too...so perhaps now is a good time to get some new specs and be proud of being a 'speccy four eyes' I know I am!

Well, i wear contact lens. but on those days where i need to wear my glasses, i dont feel very confident and i can't really look at people in the eyes. Some people can wear glasses and make them luck sexy and sophisticated. Perhaps the glasses you have aren't the best ones. You should try a contemporary style of glasses

I get that most of the time too. Its bcos most people think that when you wear glasses your more nerdy and so you're more likely to be "intimidated" which is abosolute bull. However i have noticed that when most people know you wear contacts, and you wear glasses from time to time, they pay you alot more respect for some reason, especially when both suit you. Anyway dont let it get to you! If they cant respect you then theyre just narrowminded people.

it probably is because your glasses are looking funny at them! only joking, but there might be some truth in that....it might not be that your noticing it but because you have been made aware that this is how people treat you with or without your glasses you probably have a slightly different personality. also glasses to some represent weakness and that is not true, my boyfriend wears glasses and is one of the most determined people i know- believe me!! my aunt is too. so sod what other people think, treat others how you wish to be treated, so go walk all over them!! x

There ,is nothing wrong in wearing glasses.
Of course all of this may be in your mind.
Perhaps you act differently when you have glasses on.
If someone doesn't respect you purely for the reason, you are wearing spectacles, that 's their problem, not yours!
I suspect nothing is going on...

Happy New year!

LOL, i wear glasses too, and everybody treats me the same way. maybe the "public places" you go to has impolite people. you could get contacts if you want to be treated with respect around those places you go to.

hey dude. I have worn glasses almost my whole life. Lots of people are sterotypical and think people who wear glasses are either brainy or nerdy or whatever. Just ignore them. Havinmg glasses can actually work as a fashion sense too.

Try getting a new pair. Ask your optician for advice, they will know what suits your shape of face. Some people just command authority depending the style of glasses they choose!

Happy hunting! 8)
