How dependent is the US economy on immigrant labor? What industries most rely on immigrant workers? And isn't it true that bosses prefer to hire immigrants because they can pay lower wages than they'd have to pay to American workers?

Cap'n Donna - thanks for taking time out from your drinking to answer my question! Actually, Americans WILL do the "hard blue collar work" - if they're paid enough!
Before I got my current job as a teacher, I was a carpenter for 13 years. That's hard blue collar work - but since I was in the union I made good money ($ 41 dollars an hour - even working part time I made $ 48,000 a year in 2004).
Ameicans WILL work hard - but we expect to be PAID HARD for our labor!

america is very dependent on immigrant labor for various reasons. First off, immigrants will work jobs in the country that amerians don't want to work. I work in the mfg sector and it's generally easier to hire immigrants over americans. I've found immigrants work harder and are generally more appreciative to work than americans. It's a shame.

woah Vinnie g... this is a deeper question than i expected to answer... but I'm gonna do it anyway!
i think that we are very dependent on immigrant labor, because the majority of our workers won't do the hard, blue collar work... they'd rather sit in front of a computer/ crunch numbers/ do work that keeps their hands clean.
and yes... i think that bosses would rather hire immigrants because it saves them a lot of money... they not only get to pay them less, they also don't have to pay a cent if there is an on the job injury!
now, Vinny, i must go back to my rum!

no longer in simple terms no yet HELL NO. they seem to be a burden on our financial gadget. in simple terms the complication-unfastened economics type from intense college enable you to recognize that's actual. they usher in cheep hard paintings to jobs that hire our uneducated and drop the wages of the folk who can lest take care of to pay for the pay cut back. they enhance the call for for centers (colleges, roads, scientific, police, waste, and the checklist is going on) however the carriers of those centers continues to be for the main section unchanged so fees enhance or there's a scarcity of carriers. They decelerate the learning of our criminal little ones simply by language barriers and the no newborn left at the back of standards which in turn will make our little ones much less able to compete on the international marketplace. They sap tax funds yet pay in little or no funds to the gadget. by utilising bringing down wages of voters they do no longer stimulate any spending here yet fairly they retard it which in turn skill much less earnings for industries and much less jobs for voters.

When you consider the cost of prison and unpaid medical bills and school and welfare and other things illegals suck out of us, paying Americans decent wages to work would be a huge plus to the American economy. America does not benefit from illegals.

only agricultural. but even if labor costs went up it doesn't affect the price of food that much. the Mexican mafia wants you to believe that the price of lettuce will be $20 if there were no illegals picking it.
