they both have their plusses and minus qualities. I know people in both professions. School teachers have it pretty tough now days. Getting a brat out of your class is worse than trying to fire a union employee. Kids have little or no respect for adults and then you have the self centered parents who all think their heathen failing children is always in the right and its the teachers fault. The good part is only work about 6 months out of the year when all of the holiday and vacation time is tallied. Physician Assistants have to put up with the doctors. Doctors are not typically open to being questioned or 2nd guessed. They are also known to be pretty darn cheap. If you have a spouse as an office manager, get ready for a rough ride at work. There are exceptions to every situation, but this is just what I've heard numerous times and numerous people in numerous states.

Depends on what you want to do
the difference in salaries ..
Elementary school teacher 20-77 thousand/yr
physicians assistant 45-109 thousand/yr
Teachers are notoriously underpaid, and usually their raise has to be voted on because of being created by taxes.
My mom teaches elementary school. and in the area she teaches, the max pay (15+ years experience) make about what a first year physicians assistant makes. And their raises go to vote at elections every year or two, and are voted down by stingy taxpayers. She said the county's teachers got approved of their first raise in at least 5 years. The raise was 200$ a year more than what they had been making.
But money isnt everything, you might as well do what you love. So go with whatever you think you would enjoy for the rest of your life

Elementary school teacher sounds better. I think the salaries for the two jobs are not vastly different. When you are a teacher you are not being bossed around by a doctor. And you can further your education and maybe get a raise here and there. Im not sure if you can even advance as a physician assistant.

It really depends on what you like to do. Me personally, i would pick physician assistant. I would like working in that field and I wouldn't want to be a Elem. Teacher because: Little kids are TIRING. Some people really like little kids, me, not SO much. I don't mind babysitting for my uncle every now and then, but i wouldn't want to have to try to keep order with 25-40 7-12 year olds.

That all depends on you. Each job would have its good and bad things about it. You have to ask yourself what makes you happy. No one wants a career doing something that they don't like or that makes them unhappy. Both jobs would require structure, time management, patience, diligence, and precision. Do you like working with children? Are you mentally and physically up to the task? Can you hang for hours with no adult company? Yes? Be a teacher. After you decide what you like best you may look at the benefit package. I would think they would be very different.

I think PA's make a lot more than teachers do. If your focus is money, take the PA job. If you truly enjoy teaching children, take the first. It's about what'll make you the happiest.
