I was asked to build a website for a friends business and I was just wondering, from experience...where is the best place to buy a domain and what web host do you recommend for a beginner?

Site Build It is a great host if you do not know html. I began my website a year ago knowing absolutely no html. In fact, I am totally "nontechy". My friends are amazed at the success of my website.

The most important thing about Site Build It is that they have great customer service and wonderful tools that let you easily create a website that brings lots of traffic to your site. If you have a site, but no one visits it....it's kind of pointless.

Take a look at my site, http://www.cheers2wine.com. If you want more information about Site Build It, scroll down to the bottom of any page and click on the bottom box.

Best wishes!

Check out BetterSiteHost.com they give you free 24/7 tech support and their domains are very affordable - only $7.85 a year! I buy all my domains from them.

You get free web hosting when you buy the domain or you can upgrade to a better plan for $4 a month. I think the hosting includes a template builder or something to make it easier to build a site. Hope this helps.

Any popular domain name and hosting company will offer easy to use services for beginners as well as advanced customers.

I would use a company in your country so that you can easily contact them at times you are familiar with.

Yahoo provides reliable and affordable domain registration and web hosting services. However, they only offer limited features compared to other service providers. For example, AFAIK none of Yahoo's packages allow SSH access to the host server. If you are a programmer and wants more powerful control of your sites, you may want to consider other web hosting companies who provide more advanced packages such as Virtual Private Server at even lower prices. I have personally used bluehost and startlogic, and am satisfied with them.

This can all be a matter of personal opinion. I suggest going to www.webhostingtalk.com as its a popular community dedicated to web hosting and domains.

Yahoo and google are your best bet for small business websites. They are both cheap prices.
