The Yin-Yang symbol represents the balance in everything: Life and death, day and night, reason and religion, good and evil. It is origanly from a religion, but I can't remember the name of it. I believe that it is probably one of the most important symbols to ever be designed by man. It shows the ballance that is readily seen in nature in an easy to understand symbol. As a symbol of peace, I would have to say yes. But if it were used as a symbol of peace, it would also have to represent the side of Chaos as well. That is the very basic nature of the symbol. It shows both the good and the bad

It is reflects the composition of everything... the balances of various proportions of extremes. So I'd say more balance than peace. If you believe that balance creates peace, then why not?
